    In the spirit of ideas worth sharing, TEDxSpintex will be organizing the rejuvenating TEDx event that seeks to bring people together to share a TED-like experience after 7 years. Individual organizers based on community organize TEDx talks around the world.

    At TEDxSpintex, seeks to drive conversations on ‘MINDSET’. To rethink, learn, unlearn, re-learn experiences in our state as ‘tabula rasa’. The event seeks to delve into topics on art, culture, creativity, activism, governance, social issues, health, finance and education. There would be various activities in the area of creative arts, music, magic, tech metaverse, panel discussions, exhibitions and engagement that is more fascinating.

    This initiative would feature powerful and change-making African as well as global leaders drawn from diverse backgrounds who will speak on issues relevant to African achievement on policy makers, innovative businesses, Diplomacy, fashion, creative art, invention, Diaspora connecting and more as indicated by the Curator; Bright Tenbil. Speakers include, Dentaa Amoateng; CEO of GUBA, Amb. Anne-Sophie; French Ambassador du Ghana, Noel Nii Narku Nortei; Screenwriter, Claudia Lumor; CEO of Glitz Africa, Anthony Dzamefe; Kuukua Eshun; Filmaker, Inventor of Caveman watches, Grace Quarshie; Author, Kobby Kyei; Blogger, Okyeame Kwame; Performing artist, Kobby Andah; MD for Bank of Africa, Moses B. Arthur; An Author and Dr Thomas Mensah; A Famous Inventor.

    The panel discussions also features Vanessa Gyan, A Television Personality, Afia Drah; A Communications Professional, Juanita Naa- Odey Ofori (Dzidudu); A mental Health Advocate, Gifty Oware; Ghana National Service Deputy Director and Lawrence Ameyibor; A Real Estate Investor.

    ‘The speakers were chosen based on innovative ideas to be shared on the theme, and the conversations are mind-blowing’, Bright Tenbil said.

    Ghana Institute of Journalism Hosts TEDxGIJ 2021

    TED talks are hosted all over the world with great ideas shared to like minded individuals. The initials TED represents Technology, Entertainment and Design. There are various independently organized TED like events across the world known as TEDx; where ‘x’ represents the community. Ghana has hosted a couple of TEDx events over the past years. Earlier this year, TEDxAccra and TEDxEastLegon was hosted. TEDxGIJ would be live virtually on the 16th of December, 2021.

    The maiden edition of TEDxGIJ would bring together 5 speakers from various fields like tech, arts, tourism, social advocacy, migration, digital marketing and other relevant conversations. ‘Ghana, Africa and Beyond’ is the theme of the event. Happening on Thursday, 16th December 2021, the Curator of the conference; Ms Aretha Forson assured a thought provoking ideas at the event.

    Speaking at the event would be Oliver Barker-Vormawor; Convenor of #FixTheCountry,  Elizabeth Sasu; CEO of GH Aviation and Tourism Advocate, Nadia Takyiwaa Mensah; Author, Henry Derben; A Visual Diversity Activist and Bright Tenbil; A Digital Marketing Strategist and Tech Blogger. The speakers would spread ideas and stories from their various fields of expertise.

    The Co-Curator; Noel Nii Nortei Narku expressed his anxiety for great event as previous events like TEDxUniversityOfGhana, TEDxOsu, TEDxTudu, TEDxAccra, TEDxKNUST, TEDxAhodwo and others has been successful in the last few years. TEDx community in Ghana is held in high esteem with organisers, volunteers, speakers and audience showing extreme support and excitement when ever such event is held.

    MTN Ayoba Hackaton 2021 Crowns ‘Academy App’ As The Ultimate Winner

    After months of enormous grooming and all night preparation by the shortlisted qualifiers of the just ended Ayoba Hackaton 2021, “Academy App” developed by Prince Owusu has been crowned the ultimate winner.

    The search for the brilliant app idea was a tough journey from the 271 applicants to the final stage winding down to the best of the best. The Academy App developer; Prince Owusu shared mixed feelings about his victory with mfidie.com.

    According to Prince, tireless works behind the pc was really worth this opportunity. He said moving forward, he is looking at improving on his application and working with MTN Ghana to help transform the Ghana education system with a smarter way of learning.

    The zeal to solve the everyday hustle of people’s ability to access educational facilities triggered Prince to come up with such a brilliant idea. The Academy App deserves an awesome remark just like the competing apps in this project.

    The top 5 apps who qualified for the grande finale include Request; A petty cash solutions app for organisations, Stride; A reliable delivery service app, Amalyia; A food rating and recommendation based on the users’ location, Academy; A smart learning platform for students and UNLOQR; A game rewarding app.

    3 out of the top 5 finalists; Academy, Amaylia and Stride apps won the 1st position (GHS 20,000.00), 2nd position (GHS 10,000.00) and 3rd position (GHS 8,000.00) respectively. All apps who participated would however be given the opportunity to leverage on the MTN database by being hosted on the Ayoba Super App.

    All participants expressed their gratitude towards the growth trajectory and building future with MTN Ghana towards promoting tech in Ghana.

    The future of tech seems promising if we have such events supporting young people in the space.

    5 Top Apps To Be Selected At MTN Ayoba Hackaton Finale happening on 17th September 2021

    Over the weekend, the MTN Ayoba Hackaton 2021 was held virtually. Developers pitched their app ideas. The event had 26 shortlisted participants out of 171 enrolled applicants.

    Assigned mentors or coaches groomed the participants before their presentation. Ayoba Super App is meant to provide a platform that hosts micro apps that would leverage on MTN database to reach a wider audience.

    The Ayoba Hackathon 2021 called for applicants to join the race to win funding support of up to GHS 50,000.

    On the presentation day, the participants shared their anxiety and excitement about their pitch—a mixed feeling about what they had prepared and what outcome the judges expected.

    A participant shared his anxiety; ‘I am just focused on doing my very best, to leave an impression beyond my application, hoping my application is something that they find pleasing and something that they think is worth getting on board with. So I am very hopeful, and I hope that things will turn out well in my favour’.

    All participants were able to share their presentations generally to the satisfaction of the judges. The competition seems keen when the organisers are challenged with mind-blowing sustainable solutions in the tech world.

    The grand finale of this project will be held virtually to award the Top 3 apps with a cash prize. According to the organisers, all participant apps would be hosted on the Ayoba Super App.

    The consistent support by MTN Ghana in the tech space should be recognised. The brand has project the Future of tech and looking forward to growing further as a digital company, as mentioned by the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana.

    Noel Kojo-Ganson said, “As part of MTN’s Ambition 2025, the business is ably positioning itself to be a digital company and projects such as the Ayoba Hackathon will help to set the tone for the total transformation of the business into a digital business.”

    We hope to see these apps from the Hackathon make a big hit on the Ayoba platform and transition into global independent apps, where useful.
