The newest features in Infinix’s XOS 5 Cheetah, premiered on the Hot S4

One new thing about the Infinix Hot S4 is the new version of Infinix Mobile’s XOS it came with – XOS 5 Cheetah.

It is the first time we have seen the XOS 5 Cheetah in action and today, we take a look at the OS and how the future looks for other Infinix devices.

The new XOS User Interface, although unique, still has the familiar Infinix XOS feel and look. So it won’t be that difficult to know you are holding an Infinix phone, and that’s by no means a bad thing.

Let’s look at the newest features in XOS 5 Cheetah:

    Video Chats with AI

We all love video calls nowadays, with our smartphones enabling us to now seamlessly connect via Video and faster network connections making these connections fluid. With WhatsApp, Telegram, Skype etc, smartphone users now make video calls more than ever.

The real problem with video calls is that there are usually no filters and the other party sees your image just as it is. For people who use filters a lot, this is usually undesirable and something which will prevent them from even having video calls.

XOS 5 Cheetah tackles this issue by incorporating AI Beauty mode in video calls. Now, when you make video calls, you can easily look younger, brighter and fresher.

    New AI Read Mode

For those who find reading difficult, then the new XOS 5 is just what should make ready a little less stressful on the eye. XOS 5 has an inbuilt artificial intelligence powered read mode.

The AI Read Mode manages and adjusts the screen brightness and colour temperature to make reading more comfortable to the eye. This feature is more of the Eye Care mode on older versions, just a little smarter than it’s predecessor.

    New Icon Design

When it comes to customisation, a lot of Android Users don’t really pay attention to it. A good reason why I love Android is the ability to customise almost anything at any time. For those who are into customisation, then there is something in XOS 5 Cheetah for you.

There is a new icon pack in XOS 5 that provides a refreshing, beautiful and elegant look at the OS. The design of the new icons makes it more attractive. For the customisation freaks, maybe you should enjoy this icon pack for a while and see if you would love it.

However, not all app icons are supported although a lot of the popular apps have been covered.

XOS 5 Cheetah Intelligent Voice Notifications

In the era of Assistants, XOS 5 Cheetah brings users voice notifications. You can now set an assistant to broadcast you’re the weather forecast, schedules, calls and messages and social media notifications. Basically, all the messages you care about read out loud to you.

I find it very heartbreaking running to unlock my phone when I hear the notification tone only to find its nothing important, and I am not alone. These intelligent voice notifications are a great addition. They are currently available in English, French and Hindi languages.

    Intelligent notification management

There are those notifications that we never open but always swipe away one by one to reduce the clutter. However, the new XOS Cheetah has used some machine learning to know exactly what notifications you don’t want to see often and stack them away.

The intelligent notification management in XOS 5 Cheetah recognizes and sorts spam or undesired message notifications and groups them into a single category that can be blocked.

    Smart Photo cleanup

Most people now use smartphones to take photos of precious memories with friends and family. We tend to take a lot of pics just so we choose a few good ones. Some tend to be overexposed, dark, blurry and identical. XOS 5 Cheetah categorizes photos into the dark, blurry and similar pics to enable you to delete and keep only the best versions of your memories. This is a great way to save the much-needed space on your phone.

    Smart Panel

The new XOS bring a Smart Panel which has all your favourite & frequently-used features and localization services. You can access the smart panel from any screen. You can take a selfie from a smart panel within just 2 steps enabling you to capture all the beautiful moments.

There are lots of other things you can do with the Smart Panel like Scan and Pay. It is basically a tool that has the most used features, making them available on any screen in a few taps.

    Data switcher

XOS 5 Cheetah has introduced a data switcher toggle in the quick setting menu. This will enable you to easily switch the SIM card you want to use for data connections without digging up the feature in settings. Many people use multiple lines depending on who is giving more data at a particular time. In case you need to switch, it doesn’t have to be painful anymore with XOS 5.

    Privacy Protection

You might be thinking. What if there are lots of creepy apps that might be listening to your conversations by recording them? Well, the new XOS will help you curb the paranoia. When an app is using the microphone and you are not aware, XOS 5.0 will notify you with a pop-up message “XXX App is recording”, thus making sure you are in control of all recording processes. Happy now?

    Fingerprint password reset

With XOS 5.0 comes the fingerprint password rest option which solves the password amnesia problem. In the unfortunate event where you forget the password or PIN of your Infinix phone, you will now have the option to reset it using the fingerprint.

2019 Stanbic Hackathon to focus on Blockchain Usage for Viable Solutions

The 4th edition of the hackathon conference organised annually by the Hacklab Foundation and Stanbic Bank is set to come off this Friday, April 19th – Saturday, 21st, at the Great Hall of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Kumasi with over 600 student developers from 18 tertiary institutions expected to participate.

This year’s conference according to Patrick Quantson, Head of Digital Projects at Stanbic Bank will address the topic: “Can Blockchain Technology Transform the Service Industry in Ghana?”

According to him, the Hacklab Foundation picks a theme based on trending discussions/issues in technology that need addressing from grassroots engagement as they are the relevant stakeholders to every high-level decision made at the government and corporate level.

“This year they will be discussing and developing solutions using plausible and scalable blockchain technology cases fit for the Ghanaian and African markets.

It is our hope that Ghanaian entrepreneurs will take advantage of this and leapfrog time-consuming infrastructure creation, demolishing roadblocks in the process”, he said.

The Hackathon challenge will task participants to develop solutions to address problems in the Education, Agriculture, Energy, Tax, Financial Service, Healthcare, Transportation and Logistics Sector using Blockchain Technology.

Hackathon participation over the years has grown exponentially since 2015. About 450+ student developers participated in the 2016 hackathon with 112 projects emerging. Out of these projects included the Blockchain e-voting solution which won first place, a virtual reality advertising system, a crowd-farming solution, crowd-funding platform and artificial intelligence powered virtual nutritionist.

In 2017, 15 interns were recruited from the hackathon to join the Stanbic digital transformation team. They contributed to developing epics such as the Enhanced Virtual Assistance (EVA), developed the #SBIncubator Website, the Welcome Emailers for onboarding new customers.

There are numerous opportunities for the participants including 10 award categories with a total of GHC12,000.00 in cash prizes to be won, on-spot internships and job recruitments and investment opportunities to scale solutions that emerge from the hackathon challenge. Other perks will also be awarded to winning teams including IBM Cloud Credits, Google Cloud Credits, RingCaptcha Credits, Start-up branding opportunities for the top 10 teams, etc. Winning teams will also get the opportunity to participate in the Hacklab-GSBS Start-up School, a 6-week pre-incubation program to further develop their solutions.

  • Tips on Writing a Good Information Technology Research Proposal

Tips on Writing a Good Information Technology Research Proposal

IT is one of the fastest growing areas in the world. You need to remember that your contribution in this area can make significant changes that are needed in the modern world. With the help of our simple tips, you can easily cope with writing a research proposal for information technology.

    Think About the Topic

To get started, you must select a topic for the research proposal. It should be well known and interesting to you, only then you can achieve really good results. Your academic contribution can lay the foundation for achievements in just a year or two, and not for a decade or more. That is why finding an IT topic for your research proposal is something that you should be excited to contribute to the world in which you live.

    Study the Materials

IT is changing rapidly, so reliable and adequate, but outdated information can lead to erroneous decisions. When searching for information, use the latest literature, online resources. You can also conduct a survey among students, visit the exhibition of information technology, etc.

    Determine the Relevance

The relevance of a research proposal is the degree of its importance at the moment and in a given situation for solving a particular problem, task or issue. The problem should be feasible, its solution should bring real benefits to the participants of the study. It is necessary to describe the problem, reveal the essence of the ideal to which you strive to come through the implementation of the project, and then offer real technologies and activities aimed at achieving the goal.

Formulate the Purpose of the Work and Tasks

The goal of the research work is the desired final result, which is planned to be achieved as a result of its research within the framework of the chosen project topic. For example, you are writing a paper on the topic “Information Technologies in Medicine”. Objective: to determine the level of application of information technology in medicine; show directions for innovation in the field of medicine. After the formulation of the project goal, we will indicate the specific tasks that you will have to solve during the research proposal. For example: to select and analyze material on the application of information technology in medicine; study the statistics of the level of informatization.

    Work Through the Main Part

The main part of the research proposal provides an analysis of theoretical material obtained from literary sources. The methodology and technique of research are also considered in detail, the practical part is highlighted, the results are summarized. The content of the chapters of the main part must fully comply with the topic and fully disclose it. These chapters should show the ability of the researcher to succinctly, logically and convincingly express the material.

    Check Your Work

Most of your work will entail editing. As you begin your research proposal, you will realize that the more work you do, the more difficult it is to return and view it. Remember that rewriting will take a huge amount of time, and this is normal, as it often happens with similar projects.

    Write a Conclusion

Do not forget to draw conclusions in your research project. Indicate what results and in what time frame, its implementation will be achieved. It is important to consistently present the results and their relationship with the goals and objectives set out in the introductory part of the work. The conclusion assumes the presence of a generalized assessment of the work done. At the same time, it is important to indicate what its main meaning is, what important scientific results have been obtained, what new challenges arise. In some cases, it becomes necessary to indicate ways for further research, as well as specific tasks that will have to be addressed first.

    Make a Literature Review

After the conclusion, it is customary to post a bibliographic list of references. Every literary source should be reflected in the work. A review of the literature reflects the independent creative work of its author and makes it possible to judge the degree of fundamental nature of the research conducted. If you feel that you cannot cope with your assignment, don’t hesitate to contact professional research proposal writing service to get your paper written by a team of PhD degree holders.

  • Scam Alert: ewalletgh.com is not affiliated to ECURRENCY4U GH

Scam Alert: ewalletgh.com is not affiliated to ECURRENCY4U GH

Ewalletgh, a supposed cryptocurrency exchange website has been identified as posing to be an affiliate of ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) Ghana. This website which was created on the 08/12/2017 as confirmed by the website checking tool “http://whois.domaintools.com/ewalletgh.com” has duped a number of clients of their monies.

Below is a screenshot of the Script from the original developer In which EwalletGH is using to scam People.

Our attention was drawn to this issue since According to clients who called us, this company gives them the ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) merchant MTN mobile money account number to make payments.

After payments are made, the transaction ID is taken with a promise to credit the client’s account, which mostly never happens. Unfortunately, the contact numbers given for clients to call back has No Response.

The logic identified as being the backbone of this scam is this:

    1. The “ewalletgh” team takes the transaction ID of the genuine client
    2. Place a Deposit Order on ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) and confirm payment with the transaction ID
    3. Place an order using Prepaid with ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) with the client’s transaction ID
    4. Get the ecurrency ordered sent to their accounts
    5. When the client decides to call to check up on their transaction, they realise that their transaction ID has already been used by another customer.

ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) would want to admonish all our clients to be careful which sites they visit for transactions and at least compare rates on more than 5 sites before jumping to make an order with a site that makes a lot of promises and has very low rates. ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) only operates through our official website: (HTTPS://ECURRENCY4U.NET) and don’t have any affiliates. You would be informed about our affiliates should we sign up any.

We advise you to screen new websites that offer low rates by practising the following:

Check when the site was registered

Use tools like whois.net and ICANN to find out details about when the domain was registered. Look out for when the website was registered. Note that no one can run a cryptocurrency exchange without a website even if they claim to have been working for ages like ewalletgh claims in this image.

The reason they want you to trust them is that they’ve been working since 2016, but their site was created more recently.

    Check for contact details

If you are dealing with a company that has been working for years and yet has no contact number, it should ring a bell. There’s no location and no phone number to reach and emails don’t go through, it should warn you. Especially with cryptocurrencies, check how active they are on social media, try to read reviews about them. Don’t fall prey to scams.

An exchange that is serious about their customers’ monies would at least provide a telephone number to be reached on.

Pay attention to bad grammar and too many unnecessary details.

Most scam websites just copy and paste from the legit websites and as such have too much information. Whilst tactically missing the most important information. Don’t give your money to such people, it’s better to stick with proven cryptocurrency exchanges with high rates than lose your money to people you don’t know

Notice bad grammar: “all winnings can be withdrawal”. Affiliates earn commissions not win monies

    Look out for verification

This particular site doesn’t verify user’s emails before the creation of the account happens. For people who are serious about handling your money, there should at least be a form of security to ensure they don’t send your money to another person. But none of this is present. The website should also have the “https:” secure feature for websites.

We assure our clients of safe transactions and advise that you protect your money from being stolen. In this cryptocurrency era, there are a lot of thieves trying all they can to get their hands on your cash and coins. Stay aware and screen any website before dealing with them.

  • Meet Giftologi; West Africa’s first online gift registry

Meet Giftologi; West Africa’s first online gift registry

Ghana’s e-commerce industry is flourishing as the country continues to experience economic development and increased internet penetration.

Online transactions have grown year over year as consumers have become more comfortable making purchases online.

Millennials, who are often more tech-savvy, are reshaping how we do business and smart companies are springing up to serve unmet needs of this growing customer segment.

One of such companies is Giftologi, which will be launching www.mygiftologi.com on May 1, 2019, as the first multi-purpose online gift registry in West Africa, possibly Africa, serving the Ghanaian market.

The CEO, Elizabeth Tay, who is no newcomer to the media and tech industry, mentioned how “this innovation marries two burgeoning industries – event and e-commerce – and is set to change the face of both industries, simultaneously, by streamlining the gifting process.”

“Event hosts will be satisfied with their gifts, guests will save time in finding gifts, vendors will make money by selling gifts. Everyone is happy!” she said, speaking on the benefits of the online gift registry.

The gift registry allows you to create an account, set up a wish list, select items from the website to add to the wish list and then share your wish list with your event guests who can then purchase your gift items and have them wrapped and delivered either directly to you or to them with a customized note.

It can be used for any events where gifting is appropriate.

This covers birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, bridal parties, house warming parties and even funerals.

In addition to carrying gift items, the website also features cash funds which can be created for event guests to contribute any amount.

This is ideal for honeymoon funds, funeral donations and others.

Gift registries essentially target event hosts who would like to communicate their gift wish list to their guests ahead of their event.

This eliminates the occurrence of receiving unwanted gifts and/or having to return gifts, which is a problem in Ghana because most stores don’t accept returns.

Event hosts have previously dealt with these problems by opting for cash gifts.

However, with the launch of Giftologi, as a pioneer of the online gift registry business, event hosts can now widen their gift options to receive gift items they actually need.

We expect to see more of such innovations enter the e-commerce industry as more companies seek to target the growing middle class and internet accessibility increases.

  • Ghana Police is now using 1,000 cameras across the country to “manage crime”

Ghana Police is now using 1,000 cameras across the country to “manage crime”

The Ghana Police Service has deployed robust information and communications technology to enable it to monitor key areas across the country to make up for the shortfall in the police-citizen ratio.

The United Nations police-citizen ratio is one policeman or woman to 500 people, but Ghana has a ratio of one to 900.

In what he described as “managing crime with technology”, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr David Asante-Apeatu, said with the digitisation of police information systems and the deployment of 1,000 cameras throughout the country, Ghanaians should know that they were being watched every step of the way where the cameras had been mounted.

With the digitisation of police information systems, some of the cameras have been installed at traffic intersections, border posts and key national installations across the country.

From analogue phones, the police now have digitised call centres and android-embedded chips on their handsets that facilitate the capture of videos and the identity of callers.

The centres are equipped with advanced communication gadgets, including CCTV monitoring screen and digital (eLTE 4) trunking network that are networked to other centres in Kumasi and Tamale.

The Kumasi Centre monitors the Ashanti, Ahafo, Bono, Bono East and Eastern regions, while the Tamale centre monitors the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.

The Accra Centre, which is the headquarters, also monitors the Greater Accra, Central, Western, Western North, Volta and Oti regions.

The system gives the police a fair idea of happenings across the country and helps them unravel some of the complicated cases of armed robbery, accidents, hit-and-run cases, among others.

It will also help professionalise police operations and improve their operational effectiveness.

The Daily Graphic had a rare opportunity to visit the Central Monitoring Centre in Accra, where technicians took the team through some key areas in the country on their radar.

With a touch of a button, the technicians took the Daily Graphic team to the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters, the Central Business District of Tamale and straightaway zoomed in on Yendi, where the police had a clear view and understanding of happenings on the ground, and to the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters and the Elubo Border.

    Next phase

Mr Asante-Apeatu told the Daily Graphic in an interview that the police would introduce the two-way SMS policing in the next two months to enhance communication between the public and the police.

The system, he said, was currently being piloted, with he (IGP) being able to send messages to policemen but they could not respond or reply.

The IGP said the next phase of the police digitisation project, “Alpha 2”, would be the introduction of Location Based Systems (LBS) into the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at the Police Emergency Command Centre to enable the exact location of callers to be generated on-screen, instead of the caller offering directions to his or her place.

He said an additional 8,000 cameras were expected to be deployed throughout the country to beef up security, not only at national installations but also public places, including private properties.

    Citizens

Mr Asante-Apeatu explained that individuals or corporate organisations that wanted the police to monitor their properties could link up with the Emergency Command Centre.

He, however, explained that the cameras to be used must be in sync with those of the police.

    Command Centre

The officer in charge at the centre, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ms Gladys Asare, and the technician, Corporal Sadat Hamidu, took the team through the operations of the centre.

Ms Asare said the other regional commands without the centres had branch systems where they only received case tickets to act on.

She said there were two sections at the centre: the Call-takers Unit and the Dispatch Unit.

She said the moment a call came through, a case ticket was generated and forwarded to the Dispatch Unit, which would locate the nearest patrol team to assign to that call.

The Daily Graphic team was also taken through some recorded videos of two accidents, one at the Gold House traffic light in the night and the other at the 37 Military Hospital Intersection (which have been downloaded on graphic.com.gh).

Ms Asare explained that with those videos, it became easier for investigators to complete their investigations.
