  • BoostPal creates 3rd Ponzi called Dewtours to “promote tourism”

BoostPal creates 3rd Ponzi called Dewtours to “promote tourism”

Yesterday, we exposed the plan by Boostpal to fraud more people after they opened a new company called  ViewDime and today a new one comes up called dewtours.

Well, it’s like the guys at boostpal are desperately trying to milk more people so this time they set up “Dewtours” to look like a tourism company.

Dewtours is just the twin of Boostpal or you can say they are triplets: Boostpal, ViewDime and Dewtours.

According to Dewtour’s website which is currently operational, they are into tourism. They have this written on their website:

“We’re the Tours & Travel specialists with a wealth of knowledge and experience. For over a decade, we have worked in the tourism space and grown alongside industry changes.

Fraud Fighters: Our dedicated compliance team and third-party verification partners tackle fraud and build trust among our clients.”

We believe that video is the best way to capture and share tourism’s incredible variety. This is why at Dewtours we aim to offer the best tourism experience

Does the language sound familiar? Yes, it should. This is boostpal language. All that they have changed is the fact that the videos they will be showing are tourism inclined.

Does Boostpal, ViewDime or Dewtours think people are so foolish?

Wait, when these Ponzi schemes and fraud are running, they know for sure people will be foolish enough to invest.

But do they think if they leave a messy website, people won’t know they are linked?

    Check out the image below:

In the image below, there are three things that will instantly link Dewtours to Boostpal.

    They are:

    1. The Logo
    2. The content of the FAQ Page
    3. The colours used on the site.

It could be that they have just copied everything from Boostpal and they are editing it little by little.

However, why would they do that on a live website unless they take poor investors for fools?

    Is Dewtours genuine

Just like we blew the whistle on ViewDime.com yesterday, we are doing same on Dewtours. They are not a tourism company.

Dewtours is a Ponzi and fraud and if you ever invest with them, they will run away with your money just like boostpal.

Beware, stay safe and share with your family and friends.

  • Did Boostpal change their name to ViewDime to fraud more people?

Did Boostpal change their name to ViewDime to fraud more people?

If you didn’t know Boostpal’s website is not running anymore. But that should not come as a surprise to all of you who read on Asetena.com. Well, there is something else that has come bu called ViewDime.

But first, let’s cover some background.

We have already warned a lot of people about Boostpal and why it may be fraud. You can read the whole article here.

    Why did Boostpal leave?

With the “success” and subsequent collapse of boostpal, it would be foolish of whoever was running it to just close it down and keep it like that – closed.

Some people even believe that boostpal wanted to run for a long time but someone approached them to buy their script and that was why they didn’t pay last Friday and just run away.

If you didn’t know, a script is what makes the website run and judging by the way boostpal was running, they had their own custom script built with ASP.NET. Once boostpal was successful, it was only a matter of time before other “Ponzi investors” got interested in the script and try to buy it.

Today, we discovered a new website called ViewDime which claims to pay people through their “New OTT-Video Streaming Platform”. Simple and short, it runs like boostpal but just has a more fancy name.

A few people were thinking this is just boostpal trying to enter other countries and make more victims from there but is this really true?

    Let’s analyse some facts.

    When was ViewDime.com registered?

When you look at the current ViewDime website, they have a copyright that states the year 2017 to make it seem they have been in existence for a long time.

But I decided to look a step further and see at what date the domain name was registered.

By making a quick search online, you would notice that the site was registered in August 2018. That is exactly how Ponzi Schemes work. They start making an exit plan once they think they have had enough.

So why would an internet business start operating in 2017 but register their domain in late 2018? Where were they operating before? Red Flag.

Evidence of Boostpal on ViewDime’s Website

This is what got me surprised. If you want to do Ponzi, at least do it well.

A quick search through the ViewDime site shows that they have a clear relationship with boostpal.

On the about page of ViewDime, they as people to send an email to [email protected]

How dumb can they be? If you are using the same script, can’t you do a simple search and replace?

Boostpal’s SSL was by an organisation called ViewDime.com

The SSL certificate boostpal was using before they vanished was by an organisation called viewdime.com

This proves how much boostpal and viewdime are related.

    Verdict

The dumbest people will be those to invest money they can’t afford to lose in ViewDime. ViewDime is not real or genuine. It is just a cheap clone of boostpal and is doomed to put people in tears.

Share with your friends and warn them.

  • Was Boospal a Ponzi and Fraud? Will they come back?

Was Boospal a Ponzi and Fraud? Will they come back?

This morning, I woke up with a lot of messages that Boostpal’s website and Facebook page were both missing.

It’s usual for a website to go down temporarily but for the Facebook page to go down too, that’s quite suspicious.

One Eminent guy on WhatsApp, who claims to be the Boostpal rep for Ghana (although such rep didn’t exist when I checked 3 days ago) claims the Facebook page and Website are down for “upgrade”. (more…)

  • UNICEF Ghana organises hackathon competition on SDGs

UNICEF Ghana organises hackathon competition on SDGs

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has organised a hackathon competition to develop solutions that employ child-centred approach towards finding solutions to problems around Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

A hackathon is a design sprint-like event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, and others, often including subject-matter-experts, collaborate intensively on software projects.

The initiative dubbed: ‘UNICEF Hackathon’, which is being run concurrently in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale; provides a platform for young people with any technical skills like website creation, graphic design, engineering and others, to create solutions using technology.

It highlights on SDG 3 (Health and Welbeing), SDG 4 (Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 6 (Water and Sanitation), SDG 8 (Descent work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduce inequalities) and SDG 13 (Climate Change).

According to UNICEF, by 2030 there would be two billion young women and men seeking opportunities for a bright future throughout the world.

The UN agency believes that with education, skills and empowerment, these young people would help transform economies and nations; but a fast-changing global economy demands increasingly specialise skills at a time when many education systems are struggling.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Antoinette Gyan, Communication Officer in-charge of Brand and Youth Engagement at UNICEF Ghana, recounted that ‘Generation Unlimited’ (GU), was launched at the UN General Assembly in September, 2018.

She said GU was a global partnership that aims to ensure that every young person was in education, learning, getting skills and employed by 2030.

Mrs Gyan said UNICEF realised that young people had lots of potentials and they could transform nations and economies, but over the years the potentials of young people had not been tapped.

She said UNICEF was therefore, seeking partnerships with private sector, academia and all stakeholders to ensure they tap the potentials of these young people.

She said the winners of the hackathon would be featured in the upcoming African Youth SDG Summit slated for November 7th to 9th, to showcase their ideas on effectively delivering results for children.

Mrs Gyan said, she was hopeful that young people would come up with solutions that UNICEF technical team could work with to develop something that could transform the economy and the world.

“We also hope that we will find some innovative ideas from young people in Ghana, which they will pitch to a jury during the Youth SDGs Summit”, she added.

Dr Gordon Kwesi Adomdza, Founding-lead of Ashesi Design Lab, an innovation hub, described UNICEF Hackathon 2018 as a preparation towards the African Youth SDG Summit.

He said at Ashesi Design Lab their methodology was about design thinking, and therefore, helps students, faculty and staff working on projects by providing a project consulting role; helping them utilize design thinking for their research.

He said participants would be taking through a structured design thinking process, and were expected to have clarity on the SDGs they have chosen.

He said areas such as education and climate change were broad so there was a need for participants to move closer to specific areas of focus, adding that “we are also taking them through research and analysis that will help them explore the areas a lot more”.

Dr Adomdza, who is the facilitator of the event said, he was hopeful that participants would not only present interesting ideas but validated ones.

Mr Christian Bagoya, a participant said, he chose SDG 4, because he believed education was the basic for a society to develop, however, the education Africa needed had to go with the pace at which technology was affecting the masses.

He underscored the need to have a system of education that would inform people to think critically, particularly in the area of job creation.

The African Youth SDGs Summit is the largest gathering platform for youth from across the African continent and beyond to discuss and assess the status of implementation of continental commitments to the Global Goals but also sharing ideas, critiques, results and challenge national governments to deliver on their promise.

  • MoneyGram and Zeepay just made remmitance to mobile wallets in Ghana possible

MoneyGram and Zeepay just made remmitance to mobile wallets in Ghana possible

Cross-border payments brand MoneyGram is now working with Ghanaian fintech Zeepay to provide remittance services to mobile money users in Ghana.

The service, according to MoneyGram, will make it possible for customers to send funds to any mobile wallet in the country. This includes MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash, Zeepay wallets, and the AirtelTigo Money Wallet.

MoneyGram and Zeepay inked an agreement to launch the service in the country with the Director for Africa at MoneyGram John Gely signing the deal on behalf of the company.

Zeepay Ghana Limited’s Managing Director Andrew Takyi-Appiah told reporters that their partnership with the money transfer company is a response to the wide use of technology in the country. Takyi-Appiah added that it will contribute to financial inclusion, a major challenge for many people in Ghana.

The government is keen on improving banking for its citizens, according to reports, considering that around 50% still remain unbanked.

Based on an interview with Ghana’s Finance Minister Sampson Akligoh, the government wants to achieve 90% financial inclusion by 2020.

The Finance Department recently approved a bill promoting payment systems and services. The development will reportedly be presented for ratification soon.

Zeepay and MoneyGram’s partnership will not only make sending money to Ghana a lot cheaper and more accessible, it will also pave the way for other fintechs to enter the country, observers say. MoneyGram’s Regional Director in West Africa Patrick Appiah said that the brand desires to be at the forefront when it comes to digital financial services.

Africa remains one of MoneyGram’s key markets. In 2017 alone, Ghana received a whopping $2.2 billion in remittances, an amount that increased an estimated 4.3% based on numbers from the year before.

According to World Bank data, Ghana ranks as the fifth largest recipient of remittances in the continent. Remittances going to the country come from migrants living and working in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and the United States.

  • Ghana is 2nd Worldwide in Search for Bitcoin online

Ghana is 2nd Worldwide in Search for Bitcoin online

The US dominates the markets for Bitcoin in terms of trading volume, a number of exchanges, ICOs, and other such blockchain-related statistics.

However, many wouldn’t know that it falls behind in search interest. Japan is also highly ranked amongst the most crypto-friendly nations. But, when it comes to search interest on Google, both these countries fall far behind lesser developed nations like South Africa and Ghana.

Google Trends data reveals that, so far in 2018 (YTD as of September 3rd, 2018), South Africa leads ‘Bitcoin’ search interest. Ghana stands second with Slovenia third.

Google Trends ranked these nations on the basis of a scoring system on a scale from 0 to 100.

Here, 100 is the location with the most popularity as a fraction of total searches in that region. Similarly, 50 indicates a region with half the popularity. Regions with not enough data for the term are assigned a value of 0.

South Africa, with a 100 score commands almost double the search interest of the term ‘Bitcoin’ in the US, where the score stands at 52. Ghana is second with 75 along with Slovenia (also at 75). Japan scored the lowest, with just 2 points.

Other prominent nations such as Switzerland, the UK, and Hong Kong, scored 59, 44, and 37 respectively. Saudi Arabia scored 13 and Russia 7.

In the beginning of the year, Bitrazzi highlighted how Bitcoin bulls against the dollar doves indicate an opportunity for Africa to lead the case for implementing Bitcoin as a global reserve currency.

In April, they highlighted 4 of the many use cases where blockchain is already transforming Africa.

The bottom line is that the African continent does hold a lot of potential and promise for blockchain and its flagship cryptocurrency, Bitcoin.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Features Explained

    Design & Display

The Note 9 comes with a 6.4 inch super AMOLED display. This is arguably the best display in the world right now. The display on the Note 9 is slightly bigger than that on last year’s Note 8 but the two phones seem to be of the same size.

However, the Note 9 is slightly shorter and wider. It also weighs a little more: 201g vs. 195g. The Infinity display is bright and has 18.5: 9 aspect ratio.

The Note 9 comes with two features that are missing in many flagships these days: a microSD card slot and headphone jack. Samsung Note 9 is IP68 certified (water and dustproof).

Another feature that is present in the Note 9 that is lacking in the iPhone X, Oppo find X and a few other flagships is a fingerprint scanner. This smartphone also has face unlock feature and an iris scanner. The fingerprint scanner is centrally placed at the back. The Note 8 has a fingerprint scanner on the rear but its off-center, something that most people don’t like.

    Hardware, Software & Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 chipset supported with either 6GB of RAM or 8GB of RAM. The 6GB RAM variant comes with 128GB on-board storage while the 8GB RAM version comes with 512GB onboard storage.

This phone supports microSD cards of up to 512GB. This means that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is the first phone that allows up to 1TB storage space.

Samsung Note 9 runs on Android Oreo with Samsung Experience software on top. Obviously, Samsung will provide and upgrade to Android Pie.

    Cameras

The Note 9 comes with the same rear camera profile of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. It features dual 12MP rear cameras utilizing the dual aperture technology.

This means that the rear camera can switch from an f/2.4 aperture in well-lit environments to the f/1.5 aperture when it’s being used in low light areas. The rear shooter can capture pretty impressive photos in the darkest of places.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is one of the very best camera phones in the world right now. The rear camera has a host features including Optical Image Stabilization and 2x optical zoom. There are up to 20 different camera settings including Portraits, Flowers, Food, Sky, Mountains, Trees, Sunsets and Sunrises, Snow, Waterfalls, Birds, Street scenes, Beaches etc.

The selfie camera on the Galaxy Note 9 is 8MP. This camera captures pretty decent photos too. It is the first Samsung Galaxy Note front camera with Autofocus. The camera app is amazing and provides an array of options including wide group selfies, array stickers, slow-motion videos etc.

    Battery & Extras

The Note 9 comes with a larger battery than the Note 8: 4000mAh vs 3500mAh. This phone supports fast charging and wireless charging. Samsung promises a day long battery life to heavy users. If you are moderate user, you use this phone for up to two days on a single charge.

    The S Pen

Samsung Note 9 comes with a Stylus S pen that is nothing like what we have seen before. The S pen is Bluetooth enabled and it can be used for a lot of tricks.

This S Pen can connect to the phone when its 9 meters away. You can use the S pen stylus to:

    • Remotely launch the camera app
    • Take photos & record videos remotely
    • Control the music player (Previous/Next)
    • Advancing to next/previous photo when using the photo gallery.

Pricing and Availability of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in Ghana

  • BIMA Doctor App to be launched in September 2018

BIMA Doctor App to be launched in September 2018

The prestigious event took place on August 25th at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, honouring innovative players in the healthcare industry. The West African Clinical Alliance recognized BIMA for its pioneering work in improving access to quality health care through the use of mobile technology.

According to the OECD, there is at most 1 qualified physician per 10,000 people in Ghana, and the combination of soaring population and rising urbanization is driving higher demand for health care services, particularly as non-communicable disease such as diabetes and hypertension continue to rise. In Ghana, it is common for patients to travel considerable distances or sacrifice hours waiting in a clinic before seeing a doctor.

This, along with the high cost of consultations, often prevent people from seeking medical help. In this context, telemedicine provides an opportunity to relieve the burden on the hospital system and to provide a safe and confidential way for citizens to obtain medical advice, wherever they are in the country.

Launched in 2015, BIMA Doctor is a pioneer of the telemedicine industry in Ghana and is the first and currently only licensed provider in the country. It began as a pure medical advisory service, allowing subscribers to access unlimited consultations with licensed medical practitioners over the phone for only GHC 3 monthly.

In the past 3 years, the service has evolved into a full-fledged telemedicine service, offering access to both generalists and specialists, e-prescriptions via SMS as well as a laboratory referral service providing discounts to subscribers. Just recently, BIMA Doctor has enrolled all customers onto a Health Coaching Programme delivering targeted health content via SMS and recorded voice messages.

Christina Tuemmers, mHealth Division Manager, explains “We are honoured that our contribution to improving access to affordable and quality healthcare has been recognized. The award is a major step in recognizing telemedicine as a standalone health service”. Dr. David Sunu, Chief Medical Officer of BIMA Doctor, adds ”BIMA is at the forefront of legitimate telemedicine practice in Ghana. This award is a confirmation of our high clinical standards and customer service that underpin the delivery of the BIMA Doctor Service”.

Damien Gueroult, Country Manager, reveals “We believe that the roaring mobile penetration and increasing data usage in Ghana will create a vast opportunity to reach the mass-market who have previously been excluded from health services and in particular preventive care. Just next month we will launch the BIMA Doctor mobile App which will offer additional value-added services to our customers”.

The BIMA Doctor App will be launched in September of this year through which subscriber can access and manage their medical records, locate the nearest health facility and talk to the BIMA Doctor medical team by phone or chat.
