Ghana is one of the African countries that are on the process of Digitization. With the advancement in technology in the 21st century and how countries have adjusted themselves to use technology in all aspects of life, Ghana is not far away from doing the same.

The president of Ghana has made digitization a centrepiece for its own development, thus the average Ghanaian has become used to digital telecom and financial services.

In 2018, the National Service Scheme digitized its certificate system to enable personnel who have successfully completed their service apply for their certificate online.

Once you apply online, your certificate will be delivered to your location. This was made possible by NSS collaborating with Delivery Hub Limited (DHL).

Since there were challenges in the collecting of NSS certificates, lack of proper inventory systems to file certificates and difficulty in locating certificates, there was the need to go digitize to solve all these problems.

The National Service Secretariat indeed proved that we are in a digital world. For those who are leaving in far places that need to travel several miles to the regional National Service Office to obtain your certificates can now sit at the comfort of your homes and request your certificates.

In this article, I will take you through the steps to follow to have your NSS certificate delivered to your doorstep.

Have Your NSS certificate Delivered To Your Doorstep

1. To begin, first, visit the NSS certificate website. Verify your NSS number and press enter to proceed. If in any way you don’t remember your NSS number, you can click on the “Don’t know your NSS number? Search below” button to access your account in an alternative way.
2. The first stage of the National Service follows after successful verification. Fill in all the needed information at this stage. Information like your full name, NSS number, GPS address, Region of service, institution etc are asked. Press enter after filling the forms.
3. The next stage of the NSS certificate request is the “Electronic Consent Authorization Confirmation”. This is when you give consent to release information from Educational Records. Space for you to draw your signature will be provided.
4. The third stage of the National Service Certificate request is the details preview stage. This stage is where you preview your entered information and cross-check if the information is accurate.
5. The fourth stage is the Payment. This is where you choose a payment option to submit your payment for the delivery of your NSS certificate. You can pay with MTN mobile money or Express. As of 2019/2020, the cost of the delivery is 31.52 GHS.
6. After submitting your payment, you would be asked to approve the payment from your account.

After performing all the task above, your NSS will be delivered to your doorstep.

Just like other countries in the world, Ghana also has its own pornographic content creators who create pornographic content in remote locations. But, do you know why most of the websites and creators of these sexually explicit contents hide their identities?

Most people have no idea about what the laws of Ghana say about pornography and its related sexually explicit contents. In my quest to know more about what the constitution says about this, I decided to do a little research.

After doing my research, I found out that there are several laws that talk about pornography in Ghana, most (if not all) of which I had never heard before. This article is going to reveal the findings of my research and a brief explanation of each law.

Disclaimer: The laws in this article are from the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana. But, the explanations are my personal explanation based on what I’ve read and asked from others. This article is not meant to be legal advise.

What Does Ghana’s Law Say About Pornography?

Criminal Offence Act, 1960 (Act 20)

Section 101A – Definition of Sexual Exploitation

1. Sexual exploitation is the use of a person for sexual activity that causes serious physical and emotional injury or in the form of prostitution or pornography.

2. A person who sexually exploits

a. Another person other than a child commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a term of imprisonment of not less than five (5) years and not more than 25 years.

b. Another person who is a child commits an offense and is liable on summary conviction to a term of imprisonment of not less than five (5) years and not more than 25 years.

Explanation

The brief explanation of this law is that any person who sexually exploits a person either a child (under 18 years) or an adult (over 18 years), commits a criminal offence and will serve a jail term of not less than five (5) years and not more than twenty-five (25) years.

So what is the connection between sexual exploitation and pornography?

The connection between sexual exploitation and pornography is very clear and simple. Most of the people who act pornography does it because of the money. Therefore they are exploited by exchanging sex and privacy for money and any person who does that is a criminal.

Electronic Transactions Act, 2008 (Act 772)

Section 136 – Child Pornography

1. A person who intentionally does any of the following acts:

a. Publishes child pornography through a computer;

b. Produces or procures child pornography for the purpose of its publication through a computer system; OR

c. Possesses child pornography in a computer or electronic record storage medium, commits an offense and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of not more than 25 penalty units or a term of imprisonment of not more than 10 years or both.

Explanation

In this context, a child refers to a person who is less than 18 years and child porn also refers to a material that depicts a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Therefore, any person who publishes, or procures child porn is also a criminal and is punishable by law.

What is the Connection Between Child Porn and Pornography?

Most of the pornographic materials that are put on display consist of under aged girls or boys. For example, the video that trended over the internet of a schoolgirl and her teacher was a clear example of child porn. Therefore, they are all categorized under pornography.

Development and Classification of Film Act, 2016 (Act 935)

Section 20 – Pornographic films

The Board shall not approve for exhibition a film which it considers to be pornographic.

Section 28 – Forfeiture of Equipment

1. Where a person … (b). exhibits a pornographic film, the Board shall seize the film and the equipment used for exhibition without limiting criminal proceedings that may be instituted against the exhibitor and apply to the High Court for forfeiture to the State of both the film and the equipment.

2. A seizure of the film and equipment is not a bar to any criminal proceedings that may be instituted against the exhibitor.

Explanation

In Ghana, movies are submitted to a board for review before it is published. Any movie that is seen as a pornographic movie will not be allowed to be published. Therefore, if a person exhibits any pornographic movie and is caught, he/she will be arrested and be brought to justice.

Conclusion

In conclusion, per my research findings, pornography and anything related to it in Ghana is illegal and therefore, anyone who goes against these laws when caught will be penalized severely in the court of law.

Therefore, I urge everyone to take note of these laws and try their maximum best to abide by them so that we can all live peacefully in Ghana.

The hackers managed to get unauthorized access to the victim’s account and changed their emails connected to Instagram. Instagram hack has been a headache to its users and a lot of people are wondering how to protect their accounts from being hacked.

So what can you do to protect your Instagram account from being hacked? In the below post, I will show you some important approaches to take when your account gets compromised and how to secure it.

Immediate Actions To Take If Your Instagram Account Gets Hacked

In early 2019, Instagram rolled out a new security feature called “my login info isn’t working” under the login button of the login page. If a hacker changes your password, you can use this option to gain control over your account.

Steps to follow to gain access to your Instagram account when hacked using the new security function (my login info isn’t working):

Option 1

1. Press “my login info isn’t working” button if your password stops functioning.
2. Type in your email or phone number associated with Instagram. Instagram will then send you a new 6 digit code for an account reset to allow you to regain access to your account.

By following the above steps, your account will be recovered and ready for use. However, whenever someone logs in your account indirectly without your consent, Instagram automatically sends you a confirmation address to confirm it’s you.

If you receive an email from Instagram alerting you of a Login or an email change which you are not aware of, click on the “revert this change” within the same email. This will help you recover your account.

Most at times too, your account might be hacked but still, you are able to login to the account and perform your usual activities. Once you realize a change in your account usage, immediately change your account password to a more difficult one.

5 Hints To Protect Your Instagram Account From Being Hacked

1. Use a Strong Password – Hackers easily break lose passwords. Using a weak password can easily be broken or cracked. “Have I been Pawned” is a website used to check if your password has been stolen. A strong password is a password with a combination of six letters (capital and small), numbers, and punctuation marks. Security experts suggest a minimum of not less than eight characters.
2. Two-Factor Authentication – Instagram has the option to enable two-factor authentication (2FA). With 2FA enabled, whenever you log in to your Instagram account, you will be asked to provide an SMS security code sent to your mobile number.
3. Secured Email Account – Using an unsecured email account is like opening your door to thieves at night when sleeping. Your email is what you use for most of your social networks including Instagram. Hackers attack your email first, so it’s advisable to secure your email by using a strong password and 2FA.
4. Revoke Access To Suspicious Third-Party Apps – Some third-party apps serve as a gateway for hackers to take over your Instagram account. Check and see to it that all third-party apps that have been given permission to access your Instagram are following the Term of Use of Instagram. If you notice any suspicious app, don’t hesitate to revoke its access.
5. Logout of Instagram anytime you use a public device or shared device to log in to your account. This will help protect your account by falling into the wrong hands.

It is the dream of every person to buy a car in the future. But buying a car alone does not mean you can drive your car straight away. Before you will be allowed to drive, you need to acquire a drivers’ license issued by the DVLA.

Getting a drivers’ license in Ghana is easier now as compared to the process we had a few years ago. But, before you apply for a license you need to know the type of license you are applying for.

In this article, we are going to cover all the various types of drivers’ license issued by the DVLA in Ghana.

Eligibility for A Drivers’ License in Ghana

More importantly, there are some criteria you must fall under before you decide to apply for a drivers’ license in Ghana.

To be eligible for a drivers’ license:

• One must be above 18 years
• You must have BECE or Adult education and must be able to read and write
• Must take a passport photo
• Must have had 48-hour training from a DVLA accredited driving school.

Now after satisfying the criteria above, you can then proceed to the type of license that fits you or your vehicle.

What Are The Types of Drivers’ License in Ghana?

Currently, there are six (6) types of drivers’ license in Ghana. These are based on the type of vehicle the driver uses. The types are:

1. Type A – motorcycles
2. Type B – minibuses, cross country vehicle, pick-up vehicles
3. Type C – buses and medium goods carrying vehicles
4. Type D – buses, coaches and heavy goods vehicles
5. Type E – agricultural, earth-moving and industrial equipment
6. Type F – buses, coaches and heavy goods carrying vehicles

What Does Each Type Mean?

Type A

This class or type of license is for drivers who use motorcycles and scooters. Meaning, all two or three-wheel vehicles without a gearbox fall under this section.

Delivery and dispatch riders who use motorcycles should apply for this type/class of license. Local vehicles called “Abobo yaa” also fall under this section.

The engine size of the vehicle can be up to 250cc or can exceed 250 cc as long as it is a motorcycle.

Type B

If you are a driver of minibuses, cross-country vehicles and pick-ups and cross-country vehicles, then you need to apply for this type of license.

Under this type of license, the number of passengers in the vehicle must not exceed 15 and the gross weight of the vehicle together with the passengers should also not exceed 5000kgs.

Taxi, Uber, Yango, Bolt and all other commercial vehicles which do not contain more than 15 passengers fall under this class or type of license. If you also own your own private (personal) vehicle then you should also apply for license Type B.

Type C

Buses and medium goods carrying vehicle drivers are entreated to apply for this type of license.

Also, the number of passengers in the vehicle should not exceed 45 and the weight should also not exceed 10000kgs.

All commercial vehicle “Tro tro” drivers should apply for license type C in order for them to be allowed to drive such vehicles.

Type D

This type is for buses, coaches and heavy goods vehicles.

A Type D driver can drive a vehicle that contains passengers no more than 65 with a maximum weight of 35000kgs.

VVIP buses and all intercity coaches (for example STC) drivers are also required to apply for this type of drivers’ license.

Type E

If you operate heavy agricultural vehicles then this is your type of license. Vehicles under this type include agricultural, earth-moving and industrial equipment or vehicles.

Some basic examples are tractors, graders, bulldozers, loaders, rollers, forklifts, combined harvesters and a host of others.

This type is more uncommon due to the low technological and agricultural development in Ghana and fewer number of factories.

Type F

Type F is pretty much similar to type D. But, unlike type D, type F drivers can drive all vehicles that exceed 35000kgs.

Meaning, a driver with this license can drive buses, coaches and heavy goods carrying vehicles with weight above 35000kgs.

Examples of such vehicles include articulators and all other types of rigid vehicles. A rigid vehicle simply means a vehicle that has a chassis split into two parts and is connected by a pivot.

Can A Non-Ghanaian Citizen Apply For A Ghanaian Drivers’ License?

The answer is yes. If you are a foreign citizen who is going to spend a long time in Ghana, you need to apply for a Ghanaian drivers’ license. Alternatively, you can use your international drivers’ license for its validity period.

Before you can apply for a Ghanaian drivers’ license, you need to present a license from your home country and all other steps will be followed to issue you with your ID.

Conclusion

Knowing the right type of license helps to know which car to use or what type of car you should buy if you are now thinking of buying a new car.
