  • How to find your android phone when it gets missing

How to find your android phone when it gets missing

As smartphones evolved from call centres to computers in their own right, we learned to use them as our personal companions and its no surprise that Android phones account for the majority of the smartphones we use.

As we move around with our phones we tend to misplace them in a taxi, at school or elsewhere. By signing into your Gmail on your phone you can track your phones and here is how to do it.

In order to use Find My Device, your lost device must be connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi, have Location turned on and have “Find My Device” turned on.

This means if your phone was stolen and turned off or flashed the Find my Device won’t work. On the other hand, provided it is just misplaced you can easily locate it. To do this, go to android.com/find and sign in to your Google Account.

In the case you have more than one device, click the lost device at the top of the screen. Sign in with a Google Account that’s on the main profile. On the map, see about where the device is or was last seen.

The location is approximate and might not be accurate. Also, if your device can’t be found, you’ll see its last known location.

In addition to being able to track your phone, you could also remotely lock, erase or play a sound. You select the play a sound link and immediately your phone starts to ring at full volume for 5 minutes.

Selecting the lock feature locks your device with your PIN, pattern, or password. If you don’t have a lock, you can set one immediately and you could also add your number or contact information to the lock screen to aid a good samaritan to locate you.

Selecting erase permanently deletes all data on your device (but might not delete SD cards). After you erase, Find My Device won’t work on the device and this is ideal if you have sensitive information on it.

Also, you can put a message on your phone in case it ever goes missing someone can easily track you. Open your device’s Settings app and select Security & location.

By “Screen lock,” select Settings .select Lock screen message and enter your message. In addition to your phone number, you can also put emergency information such as blood group or chronic sickness just in case you are caught in a crisis.

To do this, open your device’s Settings app and select About phone Emergency information. If you don’t see “Emergency information,” go back and select Users & accounts Emergency information and enter the info that you want to share. For medical info, select Edit information. (If you don’t see “Edit information,” select Info.)

For emergency contacts, select Add contact. (If you don’t see “Add contact,” select Contacts.)

To clear your info, select More, Clear all.

I would like to misplace my phone and not be able to find it said no one ever. It is nice to be able to track your phone but let’s make the first step by making sure our phone is right by us all the time.

  • Scam Alert: ewalletgh.com is not affiliated to ECURRENCY4U GH

Scam Alert: ewalletgh.com is not affiliated to ECURRENCY4U GH

Ewalletgh, a supposed cryptocurrency exchange website has been identified as posing to be an affiliate of ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) Ghana. This website which was created on the 08/12/2017 as confirmed by the website checking tool “http://whois.domaintools.com/ewalletgh.com” has duped a number of clients of their monies.

Below is a screenshot of the Script from the original developer In which EwalletGH is using to scam People.

Our attention was drawn to this issue since According to clients who called us, this company gives them the ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) merchant MTN mobile money account number to make payments.

After payments are made, the transaction ID is taken with a promise to credit the client’s account, which mostly never happens. Unfortunately, the contact numbers given for clients to call back has No Response.

The logic identified as being the backbone of this scam is this:

    1. The “ewalletgh” team takes the transaction ID of the genuine client
    2. Place a Deposit Order on ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) and confirm payment with the transaction ID
    3. Place an order using Prepaid with ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) with the client’s transaction ID
    4. Get the ecurrency ordered sent to their accounts
    5. When the client decides to call to check up on their transaction, they realise that their transaction ID has already been used by another customer.

ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) would want to admonish all our clients to be careful which sites they visit for transactions and at least compare rates on more than 5 sites before jumping to make an order with a site that makes a lot of promises and has very low rates. ECURRENCY4U GH (ECURRENCY4U.NET) only operates through our official website: (HTTPS://ECURRENCY4U.NET) and don’t have any affiliates. You would be informed about our affiliates should we sign up any.

We advise you to screen new websites that offer low rates by practising the following:

Check when the site was registered

Use tools like whois.net and ICANN to find out details about when the domain was registered. Look out for when the website was registered. Note that no one can run a cryptocurrency exchange without a website even if they claim to have been working for ages like ewalletgh claims in this image.

The reason they want you to trust them is that they’ve been working since 2016, but their site was created more recently.

    Check for contact details

If you are dealing with a company that has been working for years and yet has no contact number, it should ring a bell. There’s no location and no phone number to reach and emails don’t go through, it should warn you. Especially with cryptocurrencies, check how active they are on social media, try to read reviews about them. Don’t fall prey to scams.

An exchange that is serious about their customers’ monies would at least provide a telephone number to be reached on.

Pay attention to bad grammar and too many unnecessary details.

Most scam websites just copy and paste from the legit websites and as such have too much information. Whilst tactically missing the most important information. Don’t give your money to such people, it’s better to stick with proven cryptocurrency exchanges with high rates than lose your money to people you don’t know

Notice bad grammar: “all winnings can be withdrawal”. Affiliates earn commissions not win monies

    Look out for verification

This particular site doesn’t verify user’s emails before the creation of the account happens. For people who are serious about handling your money, there should at least be a form of security to ensure they don’t send your money to another person. But none of this is present. The website should also have the “https:” secure feature for websites.

We assure our clients of safe transactions and advise that you protect your money from being stolen. In this cryptocurrency era, there are a lot of thieves trying all they can to get their hands on your cash and coins. Stay aware and screen any website before dealing with them.

  • 5 Industries in Ghana Entrepreneurs can explore for Tech integration

5 Industries in Ghana Entrepreneurs can explore for Tech integration

It is no surprise that the world is moving towards an age where technology would replace paper and with the advent of 5G it may happen much sooner than expected. Maybe except Ghana.

We are so far back that we rejoice when the light comes back or when our taps flow.

Our supposed 4G network isn’t as stable as it is supposed to be and it’s not even nationwide and this hampers the integration of technology into our everyday lives.

But all that can change if we focus on harnessing technology as a tool rather than a means to access social media or just browse the web. Some particular areas that we need to focus on integration are discussed below.

    Farming

Ghana doesn’t pay much attention to farming and that is why we import almost everything edible. The farmers who grow the crops feel cheated by those coming to buy it from them at their respective villages.

But an online market which connects the ordinary farmer to a ready buyer can solve almost all the problems Not only would we have an idea of how much food we produce on our own, but we can make projections on the data we have now and work on becoming a self-sufficient company.

It is not something the government would consider doing but any entrepreneur can make millions from.

    Banking

The banking sector was one of the early adopters of technology and safe to say there are ATM’s almost everywhere.

But we seem to have stagnated at just that whiles the rest of the world has moved one to wireless methods of payment such as using your phone or watch or even just using your card to pay. Even though many of the malls and other big stores accept card payment, they are still a minority.

We need to work on a generalized acceptance of wireless payment into our everyday lives as it is often secure, simple and safe and this a great idea for a tech startup.

    Transportation

Everyone seems to have used one form of public transport or another and it isn’t an enjoyable experience especially during peak hours.

We have almost no indication of when “trotros ” might arrive and sometimes people can be seen struggling to enter one due to scarcity during that time. We could get the statistics of the various driving unions and then apportion adequate numbers of drivers at the right times.

With this, electric signboards may be placed at bus stops to inform people of the upcoming trips. Making the system electronic can allow for much improvement in the sector and tech entrepreneurs should view this area as the land of gold though much work would be needed.

    Education

“We don’t even have free accessible education what’s the point in infusing tech into education” someone might say. We need, as much as possible, to teach children how to correctly use the widespread of information we have at our disposal.

Whether or not we teach them they would learn how to do almost everything on their own so its best to teach. We could start by having digitized exams or even demanding some form of project work to be done online instead of the ICT exam they write on a piece of paper.

Entrepreneurs can take it one step further by offering coding classes or even specialized skills as a part of the curriculum.

    Health

Wouldn’t it be nice if every new hospital you went to already had your past history and could treat you better? Well maybe that is a little far fetched but the idea is fun to think about.

Our current health system is limited by the same limitations of paper. Misplaced file, miscommunication between lab technicians and doctors and so on.

Seamless integration of tech would not only better patient treatment but would provide enough statistics for research.

We need to move on to the next stage of technology as Ghanaians and entrepreneurs might be our next chance.

  • Love your health? Here are Smartwatches you should check out

Love your health? Here are Smartwatches you should check out

After the spurt of the smartphone, the tech industry grew beyond its limits and soon tech was trying to find its way everywhere.

Artificial intelligence, electric cars automated trains everything. One key area of exploits was in health. Back in the days, you needed to go to your doctor or specialist to check your vitals and sometimes very regularly if you had a chronic condition like hypertension or diabetes. Thankfully those days are over.

With a smartwatch on your hands, you basically have everythung from motion tracking to heart irregularities its had to ignoreits benefits. Not every watch can do everything, but here are the best watches to make sure you live as safely as posssibly.

    Xiaomi Amazfit

First on the list is the best budget watch is the Xiaomi Amazfit. At $120 (GHS 642) this is extremely cheap considering the Apple watch which is $399 and above.

The watch checks all the boxes: heart rate sensor, GPS and 4Gb of storage. The also comes with a very user-friendly app which helps you set it up and configure the watch’s face. The 4Gb of storage ensures that quite a handful of songs can be stored which can only be played with a Bluetooth connected device.

Another handy feature is the Alipay which won’t be of use to us in Ghana but it allows the Chinese to pay with just a scan much like Apple Pay. The only problem found was its inability to connect with multiple devices at a time. With a battery life of 5 days, it seems like a golden deal.

    Huawei Watch 2 Classic

If you prefer classic watches with leather straps and a metal body then look no further than the Huawei Watch 2 Classic.

Like the Amaz fit, it checks all the boxes required of it as a modern smartwatchh. With an IP68 rating, you are assured your watch would survive a swimming exercise. THe watch also has a dedicated button to activate a workout mode and can track sleep too.

Android pay is also supported on the watch which can survive almost 2 days with a single charge. Also, because it looks like a regular watch, the display is kinda small but it is still manageable.

At $389(GHS 2081), it’s by no means cheap but if a classic look is what you want, the Huawei watch 2 classic is your best bet.

    Galaxy Watch

The smartwatch is an extension of the battle between Apple and Samsung. Dubbed the best smartwatch for android users, it’s an extension of Samsung’s great display technology.

It looks great and come with rotating bezels to switch modes Instead of the usual wearos, the watch comes with Risen which beautifies everything and make navigation so simple. A downside of this is that Tizen doesn’t support third party apps which is kinda lame.

In terms of health, Samsung can track 39 exercises accurately which is insane. It also has the usual GPS tracker, heart rate sensor and Samsung pay. It’s also relatively cheaper than the Apple watch at $349(GHS 186) for the base model.

    Apple Series 4

Arguably the best money can afford, the Apple series 4 is the one closest to having a doctor around. And where it falls short in battery life , it makes up in its ability to pick up ventricular arrhythmias and fibrillations.

An arrhythmia is an irregular beating of the heart and can predispose to death in the short term. The Apple watch’s ability to track arrhythmias has saved many lives and is pushing people with heart related conditions to buy it.

Ergonomically speaking, the watch is well built and feels and looks expensive. With a bigger display, less bezels and a much more interective screen. It’s hard to run this down. But at $399(2134 cedis)for the GPS and $499 (GHS 2669) for the cellular model, it’s on the high end.

  • Ghana Police is now using 1,000 cameras across the country to “manage crime”

Ghana Police is now using 1,000 cameras across the country to “manage crime”

The Ghana Police Service has deployed robust information and communications technology to enable it to monitor key areas across the country to make up for the shortfall in the police-citizen ratio.

The United Nations police-citizen ratio is one policeman or woman to 500 people, but Ghana has a ratio of one to 900.

In what he described as “managing crime with technology”, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr David Asante-Apeatu, said with the digitisation of police information systems and the deployment of 1,000 cameras throughout the country, Ghanaians should know that they were being watched every step of the way where the cameras had been mounted.

With the digitisation of police information systems, some of the cameras have been installed at traffic intersections, border posts and key national installations across the country.

From analogue phones, the police now have digitised call centres and android-embedded chips on their handsets that facilitate the capture of videos and the identity of callers.

The centres are equipped with advanced communication gadgets, including CCTV monitoring screen and digital (eLTE 4) trunking network that are networked to other centres in Kumasi and Tamale.

The Kumasi Centre monitors the Ashanti, Ahafo, Bono, Bono East and Eastern regions, while the Tamale centre monitors the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.

The Accra Centre, which is the headquarters, also monitors the Greater Accra, Central, Western, Western North, Volta and Oti regions.

The system gives the police a fair idea of happenings across the country and helps them unravel some of the complicated cases of armed robbery, accidents, hit-and-run cases, among others.

It will also help professionalise police operations and improve their operational effectiveness.

The Daily Graphic had a rare opportunity to visit the Central Monitoring Centre in Accra, where technicians took the team through some key areas in the country on their radar.

With a touch of a button, the technicians took the Daily Graphic team to the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters, the Central Business District of Tamale and straightaway zoomed in on Yendi, where the police had a clear view and understanding of happenings on the ground, and to the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters and the Elubo Border.

    Next phase

Mr Asante-Apeatu told the Daily Graphic in an interview that the police would introduce the two-way SMS policing in the next two months to enhance communication between the public and the police.

The system, he said, was currently being piloted, with he (IGP) being able to send messages to policemen but they could not respond or reply.

The IGP said the next phase of the police digitisation project, “Alpha 2”, would be the introduction of Location Based Systems (LBS) into the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at the Police Emergency Command Centre to enable the exact location of callers to be generated on-screen, instead of the caller offering directions to his or her place.

He said an additional 8,000 cameras were expected to be deployed throughout the country to beef up security, not only at national installations but also public places, including private properties.

    Citizens

Mr Asante-Apeatu explained that individuals or corporate organisations that wanted the police to monitor their properties could link up with the Emergency Command Centre.

He, however, explained that the cameras to be used must be in sync with those of the police.

    Command Centre

The officer in charge at the centre, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ms Gladys Asare, and the technician, Corporal Sadat Hamidu, took the team through the operations of the centre.

Ms Asare said the other regional commands without the centres had branch systems where they only received case tickets to act on.

She said there were two sections at the centre: the Call-takers Unit and the Dispatch Unit.

She said the moment a call came through, a case ticket was generated and forwarded to the Dispatch Unit, which would locate the nearest patrol team to assign to that call.

The Daily Graphic team was also taken through some recorded videos of two accidents, one at the Gold House traffic light in the night and the other at the 37 Military Hospital Intersection (which have been downloaded on graphic.com.gh).

Ms Asare explained that with those videos, it became easier for investigators to complete their investigations.

These extensions add some functionality to the browser which can help to increase productivity. The goal of this post is to list the five best chrome extensions one can use to increase productivity.

Below are the five best extensions with the function they perform when installing on the browser.

    Google Docs and Google Voice

A Google doc is a virtual word processor that you can use to type your entire project and virtually saved so you can access them anywhere anytime at any place. Just like the Microsoft word processor, Google docs have the same features with the normal Microsoft with even more advanced features which cannot be found in the normal word processor.

When operating a virtual team, you can use Google docs to edit documents to come out with your final work without you being at the same place.

What makes Google Docs my number one best chrome extension is the fact that I can easily type all my docs without having to touch the keyboard. The extension comes with the Google voice function that allows one to speak while the extension type.

T hus, you only use your microphone and begin to speak then you get your work to be automatically typed. Isn’t that wonderful?

If you can get your work type by the extension whiles you speak then this will help increase your production to a larger margin especially if you always write memos and letters in your daily business dealings. You can go and check the extension here for more details.

    Grammarly

Grammar, punctuation and spellings are the first things people look for whenever they come in contact with a document.

Most people take their time to go through your article or content looking for grammatical errors and other spelling mistakes.

As a business owner, you always write proposals and these proposals are going to be read by top business partners and you will not want your proposal to be rejected because of your grammar or punctuations.

    Loom

Another great extension we can’t afford to miss mentioning is loom. As a video creator, I used this extension almost always. The loom extension helps Capture, narrate and instantly share videos to communicate faster, clearer and friendlier.

With one click of a mouse, you can record and automatically share the URL to any of the platforms you want. A study shows that video increases information retention than text and because of that, most businesses today prefer to communicate to their customers or fellow workers using videos.

This makes loom extension an efficient way to share information to everyone and we believe the extension can help increase your productivity. The extension is very flexible in use with Full Desktop Recording, Front Facing Camera, or Tab Only recordings.

    StayFocusd

This extension helps you in time management by monitoring the amount of time one has spent on certain sites and gives you the option to block them. A popular platform like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Reddit are most of the sites that people spend much time on.

With the StayFocused extension, you can set the time limit each employee is supposed to spend on these sites. You can choose to set a limit for the entire platform and once the time reaches employee will be blocked from accessing those sites.

If you really want to increase productivity then is time to get serious about managing your time by using the StayFocusd Chrome extension.

    Google Calendar

Google Calendar Chrome extension help displays a preview of your calendar in your chrome browser. The extension shows events from whatever calendars you are logged in within Chrome.

It puts a small Calendar icon in the upper right of your browser window. You can set all your events and upcoming tasks for easy assessment. When you click on the icon you will see upcoming from Google Calendar, without ever leaving your page.

Access any map locations or attached documents with just one click of a button. You can customize the calendar’s appearance to suit your likings. When you install this extension, you at least less assure you won’t miss any important meeting or event from your calendar.

    Wrapping up

Chrome extensions are what make the chrome browser the best and most powerful browser in the world. Today many prefer to use chrome browser because it helps in handling many of their business activities since it comes with advanced features that cannot be found in the other browser.

Like any other technologies, chrome browser has its shortcomings too. When you over install the extensions, they turn to slow down the browser which sometimes makes it annoying and time-consuming.

  • MTN Upgrades to 4G+ few hours before Vodafone 4G launch

MTN Upgrades to 4G+ few hours before Vodafone 4G launch

MTN Ghana has launched its 4G+ service to provide faster data speeds with the widest coverage for its customers.

The 4G+ service runs on 4G LTE Advanced technology using the combination of the 800MHz and 2600MHz for carrier aggregation which is an enhancement on the 4G LTE experience.

This provides more capacity and enhanced data speed of up to 20x if migrating from 3G to 4G+ and 5x if migrating from 4G to 4G+.

Announcing the service, the CEO of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh, expressed delight at the extent to which the 4G+ technology will further impact the development of the country as it provides more opportunities for Ghanaians to fully utilize digital services.

Mr Adadevoh said, “The underlying belief we have, which drives us in providing more enhanced technologies, is that everybody deserves the benefits of modern connected life.”

He said, this year is MTN’s ‘Year of the Customer’ and to make our customers lives a whole lot brighter we continue to invest in the latest technology to enable them to experience an enhanced digital lifestyle.

“Additionally, it will also go to support the growth of the country in the areas of Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and Big Data.

He added, “With faster internet and wider coverage, the transmission of data can be done with ease, on-the-go, with the best speed everywhere. Higher speed internet broadband promotes business growth and enriched social lives, ultimately boosting national development.”

The Chief Technical Officer for MTN Ghana, Mr Thomas Motlepa sharing details on the enhanced service said the company had already deployed 1,226 total 4G LTE sites of which 625 sites are 4G+ in all regions nationwide especially regional capitals and key towns. Plans for full national coverage are ongoing.

MTN continues to consistently be the first to launch innovative products and services. MTN first introduced GSM technology in Ghana and was the first to commercially launch all the generations of technologies – 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE and 4G+, just to name a few of several firsts for MTN.

  • Freelancing in Ghana: CediJob Vs 15Ghana

Freelancing in Ghana: CediJob Vs 15Ghana

Freelancing business in Ghana is increasing at an increasing rate simply because there is a new freelancing platform in the country.

These platform or websites connect freelancers and their prospective clients together. Gone are the days when one has to do the marketing of his or her freelancing business by themselves, today there are quite a number of platform in Ghana that brings all the freelancers in the country together and they can use this platform to list their services for people who are in need of such service to come and buy.

In the past freelancers in Ghana always depends on referrals and word of mouth in other to get clients for their freelancing service. But thanks to these emerging freelancing websites, today freelancers in Ghana don’t have to go through those hustle before they get their clients.

There are quite a number of freelancing websites by Ghanaian companies. These sites are what make the freelancing business popular in Ghana. They try their best to make sure all the parties involved in a transaction are safe and are well protected from any fraudulent activities.

In the past, I came across some Ghanaian own freelancing website, I tried almost all and have my experience with each of these sites. A few days ago, I wrote an article on how to build credibility as a freelancer in Ghana and since then I’ve been bombarded with a lot of messages from the readers as to which site to begin with as a newbie or as a freelancer who is trying to get more exposure in the freelancing business.

So in this article, I am going to based waypoints on the two most popular freelancing websites in Ghana today. These websites are so far the best and I will try and share all the experience I had with these websites and then at the end, you will decide which one you should consider.

If you have read this article up to this level then by now you should know these two sites that we are going to talk about in this post. The heading title of this post should also tell you the two websites. But, it is good I rehash the two sites again before we begin the actual review.

We are going to consider two freelancing websites called 15ghana.com and cedijob.com. These sites are what we are going to base our discussion in today’s post. So without wasting any further time let’s look at the first site.

    15ghana

As the name indicated, 15ghana is a freelancing company based in Ghana and is established with the sole purpose of bringing freelancers closer to their clients. 15ghana is among the oldest freelancing platform in the country and up to date is still in operation. I got to know of this website in the year 2016.

During that time, I was in look for the best place to market my service in Ghana and then a friend of mine recommends I search for 15ghana.com. He said is a new website for freelancers in Ghana. I never believed that but after making some search I stumbled upon the website.

I went through the website then read some review on some of the already purchased services on the website then right away I create my account and listed my job. The very week I listed my job, I landed my first customer on this platform. I made a decent amount of cash on these websites and also make some new clients on this same website.

    Why 15ghana.com

    1. Is among the oldest freelancing platform Ghana
    2. Every gig on the platform is priced from GHS 15 and above
    3. Trusted escrow service in Ghana freelancing
    4. No delay in the payment of your service revenue
    5. Have a mobile app that you can install and use to monitor your account on a go
    6. Anyone can create an account and start selling for free
    7. Good customer supports both onsite and WhatsApp help care
    8. Well design and self-explanatory navigation

    Cedijob

This website is a new entrant to the freelancing business in Ghana and is fast gaining more recognition in the freelancing industry. Cedijob from my recent finding shows that it’s a Kumasi based freelancing sites which have more advanced features than some of the freelancing platform in Ghana including 15ghana.com.

Unlike most freelancing sites, Cedijob has a section where one can easily find people with the best idea to invest in. this feature made me and most of my freelancing friends love this site the most. The best part of this site that amazes me is the ability to join forces with fellow workers to perform jobs together.

For example, a developer can team up with fellow developers and go for a special job on this site. Even with the likes of Fiverr, Guru, Freelancer.com, I have never seen this feature that Cedijob has. Cedijob in my personal view is a game changer in the Ghana freelancing business.

    Why Cedijob?

    1. Well design and self-explanatory navigation
    2. Trusted escrow service in Ghana freelancing
    3. No delay in the payment of your service revenue
    4. Filter jobs according to your preferences
    5. Only donate when you get the job.
    6. ability to join forces with fellow workers to perform jobs together
    7. permanent employers can also be found the Cedijob website

    Final thoughts

Both websites are a great platform for showcasing your service to clients. They both serve the same factions with similar features. But what made one superior over the other is the long term Goodwill. 15Ghana has been in the system for long and has built up its brand in the eyes of its users. Cedijob, on the other hand, is a new entrant to the industry but has great features which have made it gain much recognition within a short period of time.

Freelancing in Ghana will be better if we have more freelancing platforms where the numerous freelancers can come and trade with clients. With the emergence of these two sites, we are foreseeing a brighter future in the freelancing business in Ghana.

If you are a freelancer in the country and you are not on any of these sites, then you should consider being there because they have clients you can work with. Also if you are a client looking for a freelancer to work on your gig then 15ghana.com or cedijob.com should be your number on go to sites.
