A Look at the Anti-Corruption App By Tiger Eye And Klarity

Corruption has been with us time memorial and looking at the continuous increase in this act, it seems not to be ending anytime soon. Today everyone is corrupt but the people that are to believe to be the most corrupt are the politicians and other government agencies.

Corruption is seen to be what is killing the economy and in other to tackle this problem, a lot of campaign has been launch against this act. The religions counsel and the other private individuals have dedicated their time to see the coming to an end of this act in the country.

This app will help anyone create awareness about corruption within its community, and to put pressure on the institutions to take action on the case.

Once a corruption case is reported using the app, the information is shared on social media and with journalists, civil society organizations, and governmental bodies. Together, they create awareness and pressure for necessary actions to be taken.

Only you can stop the recording from the background apps by force closing the app.

Once the recording is over, you can locate your recorded video in the app menu and then you decide whether to “share” to your social media platform or forward it to the “tiger eye team” or any journalist within your community.

Once the video is shared, the team will try to push the case for necessary actions to be taken.

How Safe Is The App To When Using?

This concern was raised on the app “Review Page” on the play store by one of the users of the app and this was the reply for that by the app developers: See the answer in the below screenshot.

    Conclusion

After a successfully launching of the app, this was what Anas Aremeyaw Anas, founder of Tiger Eye Foundation has said about the app.

“We are very excited to be working with Klarity. After many years of working as an investigative journalist and with the Tiger Eye Foundation, I have witnessed the difficulty of exposing corruption first hand.

“This platform will allow us to expose petty corruption in a safer way and help mobilize civil society to increase accountability on public institutions. We are looking forward to be a part of this platform and believe that it can have a long-term societal change.”

  • What does Vodafone Ghana moving to 4G mean?

What does Vodafone Ghana moving to 4G mean?

The early days of 2019 saw an announcement from Vodafone saying they had secured a 4G spectrum from the National Communications Authority(NCA) for $30 million dollars.

Further down the year, it is anticipated that the 4G connection would be available in the second quarter. But what does this all mean for the telecommunications giant? Can the move be expected to generate more revenue? Will it be a mishap? And what can Vodafone do to exploit this opening?

The year was 2014, and Ghana was finally joining the 4G train 2 years after the introduction in the UK and the Ghanaian owned Surfline was the ish. Surfline had dominated the industry of 4G for a mere 2 years before MTN joined the bandwagon.

MTN’s announcement of 4G was a much bigger appeal because of the network’s huge base of customers in the country. Now 3 years later, Vodafone attempts to do the same when the world is clearly preparing to move into 5G. Is it too late?

Probably not, Ghana is very unlikely to push the move to 5G until 2020 and considering the price of the technology, probably longer. It does mean though, that Vodafone is going to have to try and increase its market share before then.

Also, the move would mean only AirtelTigo would be left on 3G which is a plus for Ghana. Since the Airtel Tigo merger, Vodafone now has the least market share among the 3 networks and must work extra hard (by riding the 4G wave) to increase its share.

Can the move be expected to generate more revenue? Well, it is unlikely. With a change from 3G from 4G, data gets relatively expensive. When Surfline was first introduced, it was regarded as the most expensive data provider.

Then came Busy with almost double the rate of Surfline which needless to say didn’t help the situation. MTN was expensive and is still expensive but because it doubles as a network provider, it worked like a charm and Vodafone should be keen to recreate it.

All that said, If Vodafone is expected to make a solid move into the 4G era here are a few ideas that could work:

    Improve its network connectivity.

Despite not having a 4G connection, Vodafone’s network coverage is very shady. It can be fast and it can be slow at times. Customers are always complaining on social media and they should ensure that with the switch to 4G that it improves around the country.

Personally, I sometimes switch to MTN if my Vodafone network is unstable. If possible, it should give extremely good network connectivity in the major cities of the country as it tries to catch up to MTN.

    Keep tariffs attractive

When there was an increase in tax late last year, the networks decided to increase the charges on their respective data plans. This didn’t go too well for the Vodafone X users.

Despite the increase in the price of the bundle, it was still insufficient for a month. The Vodafone X set of bundles is very popular among university students. Vodafone can ensure that its tariffs stay the same during its transition or even better, last longer.

    Broadband future

Lastly, with the introduction of 4G, Vodafone can aggressively cement its place as the king of broadband.

MTN, Surfline and other data providers always had an edge over Vodafone but with the advent of 4G, Vodafone can hope to even the playing ground. By giving promotions, and selling more routers, Vodafone can hope to regain their throne.

Vodafone seems late to the 4G party but with the right amount of effort they can still make it a success.

  • This valentine, you and your boo can have a lover’s app

This valentine, you and your boo can have a lover’s app

This post was originally published in 2017.

February has long been considered as the month of Love, with the climax of all the so-called love activities rather conveniently in the middle of the month: February 14th – Valentine’s Day. It’s 2017, and there is no facet of our lives that technology doesn’t affect. In February, I put up a series of posts dubbed “#ValentineSpecial” with a focus on Technology and our love lives.

In more recent years, you can not speak about technology without speaking about smartphones, and with mobile applications. There is a mobile application for virtually everything nowadays. Mobile apps to pay for goods, apps for taxis, apps for designing, apps for movies and luckily for us, apps for Lovers and Couples.

Why would couples need an app when there is Whatsapp or Messenger? Well, one thing about apps for couples is that they are designed to be for just two people, yourself and your lover. They also have unique features that differentiate them from mainstream chat and messaging apps or photo sharing applications. With a busy work or school schedule, it’s mostly tiresome to make time for your significant other. Today, I look at the one very exciting app you should use with your significant other.

With over 3,500,000 downloads and a rating of 4.0 on the PlayStore, this app is actually my favourite! It is beautifully designed and encourages you and your mate to keep lasting memories. You can share text, pictures, videos, audio, doodles, beautiful stickers and “private or disappearing photos”. It’s the first app you should try if you are sceptical of relationship apps.

Features (as listed on the app’s website):

    • Private timeline to build a shared history & remember all your special moments
    • Real-time messaging and share videos, voice messages, and photo filters to express yourself
    • Express your moods & emotions with a variety of fun sticker packs.
    • Send Secrets: photos that disappear after a fixed time!
    • ThumbKiss™ when you want to be close: whether next door across continents touch the same spot on your phones to make them both vibrate simultaneously
    • Sketch together in real-time: draw pictures simultaneously or play games from a thousand miles away!
    • Share to-do lists: real-time syncing from new date ideas to remembering milk at the store
    • Broadcast your location to each other in real-time using Live Beacon, to make it easier to meet up
