Itel S16 (2020): Price, Specs, Features And Where To Buy

It was just in March of this year that itel Mobile released the A56, which targeted at entry-level budget users has been doing so well.

When it comes to smartphones in Africa, itel is gradually gaining grounds although their spec sheet is mostly not appealing to those who seek good performance.

The new itel S16 looks to be an upgrade over the earlier released A56, although they are not in the same series in the itel product line.

    itel S16 Specs

    itel S16Specs

    Display6.5“ HD Waterdrop FullScreen (1600 x 720 pixels)
    ProcessorSC7731E Quad-core 1.3GHz

    BatteryNon-removable Li-ion 4,000mAh
    Connectivity2G/3G
    Front camera8MP with Flash
Rear cameras8MP Main Camera + 2MP Macro Camera + Depth Sensing
ColoursIce Crystal Blue, Cosmic Shine, Dazzle Black

    itel S16 Features

    Camera

This time, itel has a triple rear camera set up comprising of an 8MP main shooter and a 2MP Macro lens with the last lens being a depth sensor.

According to itel, the camera’s will also rely on “AI” to make photos more beautiful. Here are what each lens’ main purpose is:

    • 2MP Macro Camera: Take crisp photos up close with the new
    • 8MP Main Camera: High-quality photos in any type of lighting
    • Depth Sensing Camera: Create stunning bokeh shots

The itel S16 will definitely not have the best photos on the market, but it will strive to give more at the price range of the phone.

    Software, Security, Performance

Performance-wise, the itel S16 comes with the same chipset as the itel A56. Therefore if you have used the A56, you should expect the same level of performance on the S16.

What’s new with the S16 is the introduction of Android 10 (yeah, it’s Q3 2020, but Android 10 seems pretty decent for the level the market is targeting.

It is also Android Go, so unless you are trying to use very heavy apps, the 1GB Ram of the device should hold up most lite apps.

On the side of security, itel promises a face unlock – although you shouldn’t be banking your security hopes on a device under $70. There is also the finger print sensor at the rear of the device.

    Battery

itel’s S16 is powered by a standard 4,000 mAh battery. With the battery management of Android Go, you should be able to use this device for much of the day without requiring a charge.

However, if you want to heavily use it, you might want to carry your charger along.

  • Reasons why Android phones are more convenient than iPhones

Reasons why Android phones are more convenient than iPhones

Over the past years, the competition and comparison between iPhones and Android phones have become an annual thing. iPhone users claim they have the best phone on the planet, while Android phones claim to also have the best phone in the world.

In one way or the other, both users are right. The iPhone has its own advantages over Android phones, while Android phones also have their advantages over the iPhone.

But among all these comparisons, there is one fact that can never be disproved unless Apple, the manufacturers of iPhone decide to change how they make iPhones and that is convenience. There exist no iPhone user who can challenge this fact.

In this article, I am going to show you some of the reasons why Android phones are more convenient than iPhones. The points raised in this article can be testified by both Android and iPhone users after reading through this interesting article.

Reasons why Android phones are more convenient than iPhones

    Easy and accessible Operating System

This is where most Android users get to tease iPhone users. The Operating System (OS) for Android phones as everyone is aware is Android (it’s a little funny because the name of the phones was named after the OS).

The Android OS is an open-source Operating System unlike iOS for iPhone users.  With the OS being open-sourced, Android users have the liberty of making several changes to their phones depending on their preferences.

That is not the case on iOS where almost everything is decided by the manufacturers of the iPhone. This means that with iPhones, you can only use what has been provided to you by Apple (whether you like it or not).

Comparing these two Operating Systems, i.e. Android and iOS, you can clearly see that Android phones are much more convenient than iPhones.

    Customization

Similar to the Operating System, Android users due to the open-source operating system are able to completely customize their phones without any restriction.

With Android phones, you can change your launcher from the regular Android launcher to other third-party launchers including iPhone launcher.  Do you want your phone to look like a computer? Yes, that is also possible; you can even change your phone’s launcher to a windows launcher.

There are also third-party keywords with different designs that can be used on your Android phones for chatting or any other thing you will need the keyboard for.

All these features are not available for iPhone users because they are restricted to what they have been provided by the OS manufacturer.

Easy expansion of the Storage Capacity

For iPhone users, the storage capacity of your iPhone is what you will have to use until you upgrade your iCloud storage plan or decide to buy a new iPhone. That is not the case with Android phones.

With Android phones, you can choose to buy a phone with 16GB storage and upgrade the storage to any size you want, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, etc. To do this all you need to do is to buy a Memory Card at a one-time price, unlike iPhone where you need to pay monthly.

There are several alternatives of Hardware

Android phones have several alternatives for hardware whenever you go to the market to shop for hardware. In terms of headphones, there are over 50 trusted brands you could choose from; also in terms of the charger, battery, etc., there are trusted and genuine alternatives available for you.

With iPhones, the only thing you can buy is the products that were produced by Apple. Although you can opt for some other brands, in order to enjoy optimum pleasure, you need to buy the products that were manufactured by Apple.

This makes Android phones more convenient and there’s always competition from the other brands thereby causing them to manufacture authentic products.

    Low price and affordability

The last item on my list today is low price and affordability of Android phones. For the past few years, there has never been a time where an iPhone cost the same as its Android contender; the iPhone is always expensive than the Android phone.

So who will spend more money on what they could get from somewhere at a cheaper price? There’s an exception of only a few who will do that. This always leads people to buy more Android phones rather than buying iPhones at an expensive price.

    Conclusion

With all these points discussed in this article, it is undoubted that Android phones are more convenient than iPhones.

Do you also agree with me? If yes or no feel free to drop your comments in the comment section below and let keep the debate going on.

Tecno Mobile is introducing the Tecno Camon 16 series to markets in which it has operations. Tecno’s Camon 15 series was launched somewhere in March 2020 during the heavy lockdown.

It is unknown how well the Camon 15 performed in sales, although the cheaper Spark 5 seemed to have gain comparatively more grounds.

Nevertheless, Tecno and the Transsion group as a whole, is pushing forward to have their devices in the hands of more people.

Tecno’s camera focused devices, the Camon series is back – this time, with different variants at different price ranges and an almost similar design.

Tecno Mobile has set up the camera in a way to make it an all rounder. It is not only good for general photography, but also takes above average night photos and Portraits.

Some very notable new features of the camera are:

    • AI Beautification for the perfect Dark Skin

    Battery

The Camon 16 Premier is powered by a 4500mAh battery, an upgrade over it’s predecessor.

The phone should be able to take advantage of Android 10’s good power management system and it appears Tecno will this time look at the software side of things when it comes to power management – hello HiOS.

Also, since the phone supports 33W fast-charging, you will not have to worry about overnight charging. According to Tecno, 33W flash charge greatly cuts down the charging time – 30 minutes charging reaches to 70% power.

    Performance

The Camon 16 Premier runs on the MTK G90T chipset. This is as close as a chipset can get to the flagship line in MediaTek chips.

Some AnTuTu tests have given the MediaTek Helio G90T a total score of around 280,000 points. This puts it at a level higher than the Snapdragon 730G.

What these results mean is that the Camon 16 should be able to run a lot of your multi tasking needs and will also be good with gaming.

Coupled with the 8GB of RAM, the smartphone is set to be very usable – less lag, more performance, more multitasking.

Infinix Zero 8 (2020): Price, Specs, Features, Where To Buy & Best Deals

Infinix’s Flagship Zero series is next in line this year with the apparent launch of the Infinix Zero 8. The new phone comes with a design that should appeal as both artistic and professional.

It has not been long since the budget rated Infinix Smart 5 launched, and it seems that Infinix is fast pushing the Zero 8 to appeal to all those who may not be impressed by earlier releases of the year and have more cash to spend.

    Infinix Zero 8 Specs

Special FeaturesFingerprint Sensor (rear-mounted) Accelerometer Proximity Compass 3.5 mm headphone jack present
    Price$250

Features of the Infinix Zero 8

Helio G90T processor for faster and smoother experience

The Zero 8 is powered by the G90T processor which independent tests have proven that is better than the Snapdragon 730G.

This means that the Zero 8 will give a smooth user experience and you should be able to multitask on it with very visible lag.

And with the ample 8 GB of RAM onboard, you don’t have to scramble for memory at all. It definitely is Infinix’s top performance device of the year 2020.

Bigger Efficient Display to see and enjoy more

The new Infinix Zero 8 has a 6.85″ FHD screen with a dual blind hole screen. According to Infinix Mobility, the display has a brightness of up to 480 nit, and the refresh rate of 90Hz – with the ability to reach a high touch sample rate of up to 180Hz.

Pictures and videos are going to look lit on the phone and it will be great to enjoy your favourite TV series and music videos on the Zero 8’s screen.

Fast Charging on a 4500 mAh battery

The 33W Supercharge feature of the Infinix Zero 8 is impressive as it means the phone can charge quickly and you will not have to charge it overnight most of the time.

However, the 4500 mAh battery may appear as a “small” battery to a lot of people. This would be because the Smart 5, a budget phone which released earlier this year was packed with 5000 mAh battery.

However, Infinix seems to have some good software enhancements on the Infinix Zero 8 to minimise battery use. This means, which a good charge and average use, the battery should be able to last a full day.

  • 5 Charging Tips To Prevent Battery Damage On Your Phone

5 Charging Tips To Prevent Battery Damage On Your Phone

Back in the days, mobile phones were known to last for several days after a complete charge. The Flagship Nokia and Motorola phones were the most prominent in the area of battery capacity.

One could charge a phone during the weekend and use it throughout the following week until the following weekend without necessarily charging again.

This has never been the case since the introduction of Smartphones which come with Li-ion batteries.

With most smartphone users, they have to charge their phones at least 2 times a day of active usage. This makes it largely inconvenient for those who may not be able to charge their phones that frequently.

What most people don’t realize is the fact that their battery woes could actually be as a result of some charging mistakes they keep repeating.

If you’re one of those people who have suffered quick battery depletion in the past or you’re still going through that now, then this article is for you. Look no further.

Here, we take you through 5 charging tips to prevent damage on your smartphone batteries and mistakes that can destroy your battery health.

We believe that when you read and take these 5 steps into consideration seriously, your battery life should improve significantly.

5 Charging Tips To Prevent Battery Damage On Your Phone

Avoid Charging Your Battery 100% Full As Much As Possible

Today’s phone batteries, the Lithium-Ion batteries are fitted with a certain number of complete charge cycles as their life span. Meaning every smartphone has a number of times it can be completely charged in its lifetime.

Therefore, the more you charge your battery fully, the more likely you are to reduce your phone’s life span and cause more damage to your battery.

It is important that you charge your phone anytime it drops below 50% and stops charging before it hits the 100% charging point. Usually, you could take it off after 90%.

By doing so, you reduce the charge cycles.

    Avoid Charging Your Phone Overnight

Leaving phones on charge overnight is one thing most people fancy especially for those who do not allow their phones to rest. They only allow the phones to rest when they themselves are resting too and hence the phone tends to be left on charge through the night.

Contrary to popular beliefs that when you leave a smartphone on charge for long, it overcharges, that is not the reason why you shouldn’t leave your phone on charge overnight.

In fact, there’s no evidence that Lithium-ion batteries actually overcharge and are likely to explode, unlike the nickel batteries which were being used in the older versions of mobile phones.

However, the more your phone continues to be plugged in after being fully charged, the more it tends to become hot since the excess energy from your charger is likely to be converted into heat energy. And batteries don’t do well with heat. So the hotter your phone gets, the less healthy your battery becomes.

Avoid Using Your Phone While Still Charging

Charging and using your smartphone at the same time may not be entirely bad for your battery and its lifespan. However, there are certain variables which could likely distort your battery life.

If you are using improperly detached or unapproved chargers for your smartphone, you stand a risk of damaging your battery if you continue using it while it’s still being charged.

Also, gaming or watching videos on your phone requires high processing speeds and frames, this causes your phone to increase in temperature. Now, we know that most times, when charging the phone, it tends to get a little bit warm. So if you keep charging your phone and at the same time, you keep using it, you are creating an instance of excess heat in the device.

Batteries, however, work best under very cool temperature, mostly at room temperature. So the more you subject your battery to excessive heat as a result of gaming while charging, you tend to weaken the battery capacity more and more.

Reduce The Frequency Of Fast Charging

Most smartphones now come with the fast charging feature which enables users to charge their phones fully within some few minutes. This reduces the average charge time of the devices and makes it convenient for users to quickly get their phones in shape before stepping out.

The phones supporting Fast-charging are usually made to fit the fast-charging instances and withstand any challenges that may come as a result.

However, fast chargers come in varying sizes. So, if you don’t get the exact one that matches your phone, you tend to cause excess heat to your phone battery which as we discussed earlier causes the depletion of your battery life in the long term.

Don’t Leave Your Battery In Charge For Long Even If You Won’t Use It

Your phone battery may not always be in use. Perhaps you are travelling for a month or two and you believe you wouldn’t be needing your phone while you travel so you want to leave it behind at home.

For most people, they’d prefer to leave the battery uncharged and on the phone while they embark on this journey.

This should however not be so. If you are certain that you wouldn’t be needing your phone while you travel, the best thing is for you to charge the phone to at least half-full or the 50% mark.

Once the battery is half-charged, remove it from the phone and store it in a dry place.

Normally, the battery charge dissipates between 5 to 10% every month, so you should be able to recharge the battery after some few months in order to keep it in good shape.

If the battery goes dead, that’s completely at 0% for a very long time, it is likely not to hold any charges anymore.

    Conclusion

Today’s smartphones are of great importance to our generation when it comes to entertainment, education, communication and business. However, one problem we all seem to face with these beautifully-designed devices is the issue of battery life.

Most people find it difficult managing their batteries efficiently to achieve longer usage times.

In this article, we discussed 5 charging tips which promise to increase your battery health significantly.

I hope this article was very helpful to you and that you’ll share with your friends and family.

  • Some Of The Things That Cause Your Phone’s Storage Memory To Always Be Full

Some Of The Things That Cause Your Phone’s Storage Memory To Always Be Full

The smartphones being developed and launched of late makes at least a default ROM storage of 16 gigabytes of space with system apps and phone ROM taking about 4-gigabyte space from the 16 gigabytes.

The remaining 11 gigabyte becomes the phones internal storage for your files and documents. Most devices extend support for external storage advancement up to 256 gigabytes.

To many, this internal storage looks good and manageable to them but to their surprise and shock, the phone after use for some time always prompt them of memory full. One may not have more files on their internal storage but still, have memory full problem.

This problem is not caused by the files on your internal memory though sometimes the number of files stored there can lead to memory full, these particular ones are far from that.

This problem does not only occur in 16 gigabyte internal-only devices, but 32-gigabyte internal memories also experience the problem.

Below are the things that cause instant drains to your phone’s internal memory.

    Huge Operating System

The 16 gigabytes may seem OK and satisfactory but if your phone’s operating system is very large, it will cause memory full in the future. Mostly some devices Operating System takes up 4 – 4.5 gigabytes memory from the 16 gigabytes. This leaves you up to 11 – 10.5 memory.

System updates will be coming to fix patches and update your previous Operating System. Note that, these updates take up space, so the regular you make those updates, the more your memory fills up.

    Text Message

It will shock you to know how Text messages take up memory. Most at times, I go to settings > Apps/App info to check up applications taking up storage spaces. I was shocked to see the storage space my regular messaging app was consuming.

What I will love to see is, Android/IOS should add encrypted cloud storage features for Messages so that when we delete our messages to free up space, we can be able to access them anytime we want in the cloud.

    Facebook App

Facebook’s main application is one of the consuming storage apps. If you don’t have much space that can accommodate the application, I will advise you to use the Lite version. You can check how much space the app takes by going to Settings>Apps/App info.

Huge Media Files Hidden In Strange Places

Using your device’s internal File Manager won’t allow you to see these huge media files hidden at the root of your device. Download external file managers that can be used to see details of files and folders stored on your device’s internal memory.

I will personally recommend Es File Explorer because of the wonderful features it offers. It provides you with a Space Analyse feature that gives detailed usage of space by apps. This helps you discover huge media files that are of no importance hidden and taken up space.

Installing Apps Without Deleting Unused ones

We are all found wanting with this act. Most at times, there are more applications that have not been opened from the day of install. I personally find apps downloaded but have never opened since the day of install for more than a month old but still on the phone.

We install more apps to add to the ones installed but have never been opened. Before installing new apps, delete the apps that have no relevance or unused before installing new ones.

    Auto Update

Automatic updates on your device silently take up more storage without prompt. Apps updating silently in the background override data to the existing ones. Some of the new updates come with their own size and add up to the existing ones which takes much space.

    Conclusion

Memory full is a headache we always face, most of the memory problems happen due to the highlighted problems talked about in this article.

  • Best Ways To Clean A Smartphone To Prevent Coronavirus

Best Ways To Clean A Smartphone To Prevent Coronavirus

The novel Coronavirus popularly referred to as Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered Coronavirus. The virus was first discovered in Wuhan – China.

    How Coronavirus Spread

In recent statistics, 18.4 million confirmed cases of coronavirus exist worldwide. 11 million people have recovered from the virus and there have been 692 k deaths worldwide.

The virus since the outbreak is said to be spreading at a fast pace within a short time. The Covid-19 spreads from person to person in close range. Droplets of body fluids like Saliva or mucus, from an infected person, can be dispersed in the air or on surfaces when coughing or sneezing.

When other people come into direct contact with these droplets or hold a surface that is infected and mistakenly touches their face, they will automatically get infected.

A recent study by scientists states, coughs and sneezes from an infected person can stay suspended in the air for almost 10 mins. It is not yet known how long the virus can stay outside a host.

Getting in close contact with an infected person puts you at risk. A particular concern is on transport, looking at how the virus can be transmitted, transport is of major concern.

The close range of how people sit in transportation mediums like cars, motors, airplanes are very disturbing.

Many countries laid out guidelines on how to curb the spread of coronavirus. Some put out strict adherence to the guidelines in order to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Schools, Churches, Mosques, and all other social gatherings were banned. Curfew/Lockdown were imposed on citizens in order to halt the spread of the virus.

Transportation sizes were reduced to halve capacity in order to ensure a 1-meter distance between passengers.

How To Protect Yourself From The Virus

    • Always be in a nose mask – You might not know who had used your location or route, without being in nose mask puts you in great danger
    • Wash your hands with soap under running water or use an alcohol-based sanitizer
    • Avoid crowded areas or meetings.
    • Always ensure there is a 1-meter distance between you and any other person.
    • Stay away from people without a nose mask.

Since Covid-19 can easily spread from person to person and on surfaces, our mobile phones also need to be cleaned properly to avoid the virus.

Ways To Clean Your Smartphone To Prevent Coronavirus

    1. Disinfecting wipes – Use disinfecting wipes to clean your smartphone. Some people consider using alcohol sanitizers to wipe and clean their phone but that is the wrong way. Using alcohol to clean your phone can damage your touch screen and ports. Moreover, it can corrode the coating design on your device.
    2. Mobile Sanitizers – Mobile sanitizers like Mobiwash, Rnaux, Cleaning kit, and others can be purchased and used to clean your device. Special cloths are added to the sanitizers to be used. Avoid the use of other cloth in cleaning your device.
    3. Special Cloth – Use a micro-fibre cloth and soft linen free cloth to clean your mobile device.

    Conclusion

Coronavirus has changed all aspects of life and how we live totally. Your phone is like your third hand and needs to be regularly disinfected too. Until Coronavirus leaves the human race, your health is at your own hands. Practice the safety precautions in order to stay safe from the virus.

Follow the guidelines provided to clean your mobile device in the safest way.

Features of the Huawei Nova 7i

    Design and Display

The Huawei Nova 7i comes with a two-tone design with a glossy finish and Huawei branding at the lower middle part of the back of the phone.

Also at the back of the phone, the 4 cameras are arranged in a square bump format and the LED flash can be seen just below them.

Although the phone uses a fingerprint sensor, it is not behind the phone, but has rather been integrated into the power button to the right of the phone, just above the volume buttons.

    Battery

Battery life and fast charging are one of the areas that a lot of consumers are concerned about — and the Nova 7i’s 4,200mAh battery capacity with it’s 40W Huawei Super Charge delivers just that.

With medium usage settings (brightness, screen time and volume), the 7i can last up to a whole day with some juice left for the next morning.

Also, because of the presence of fast charging, you can fully charge the phone in about an hour.

    Camera

Before concentrating on the quad core setup of the Huawei Nova 7i, the camera app itself is greatly built, to make sure the hardware is put to good use.

The Camera app as different modes to choose from. These include:

    • Photo
    • Video
    • Professional
    • Night
    • Portrait
    • Panorama
    • Stickers
    • HDR
    • Slo-mo
    • Painting
    • Moving Picture
    • Macro
    • Aperture (Background blur)
    • Time lapse and some more

The main 48MP f/1.8 camera takes very detailed photos with rich colours and has good performance even in low light situations.

The ultrawide 8MP f/2.4 camera that supports the main camera is also able to take some pretty good photos. However, the fish-eye effect is not so great on it.

    Performance and Storage

The presence of Huawei’s Kirin 810 chip with 8GB of RAM means that the Nova 7i can be effectively used for multi tasking without any noticeable lags.

Also, it has a Mali-G52 MP6 GPU with means it can be able to handle all the games you would find on Android devices nowadays.

On the storage side, there is 128GB of storage to be utilised. Enough for all your photos and videos even if you don’t do regular cloud backups.

Also note that the hybrid slot on the device only takes Huawei’s own Nano Memory SD card. That also means you can’t use two SIMs and the Nano Card.
