    It comes as the same price range (although slightly cheaper) as the Infinix Note 7, which will most likely be its immediate competitor.

    Huawei Y7p Features

    The HUAWEI Y7p offers a rear AI triple-camera setup that includes a 48MP main camera with an f/1.8 wide-aperture lens for capturing frame-worthy moments in true, native high resolution, and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera supporting the 120-degree field of view for scenic landscape shots.

    Others are group photos and wide-angle video capture, and a 2MP depth assists camera for simulating realistic shallow depth-of-field effects that are a staple of any breath-taking portraits.

    Equipped with a large 1/2-inch sensor, the HUAWEI Y7p also excels in low light scenarios, producing clear, low noise images that are rich with colours and details whether the user is shooting in broad daylight or at night. Night Mode also makes a return, supporting stabilization for handheld shots taken with up to a six-second exposure for easy detail-packed low-light shots.

    Upon detecting that the user is shooting with backlight, the camera will turn on HDR Mode, which can combine three frames taken in quick succession to create a stunning photo that has a higher dynamic range.

    Like many other Huawei smartphones, HUAWEI Y7p also features AI Scene Recognition, enabling the rear cameras to recognise over 500 scenes and apply the real-time custom enhancement to turn works of novices into masterpieces.     Kai! The phone you may be viewing this post with may be fake. Detect it now. Failed call attempts, poor network quality, and emission of radio frequency used to be the more pronounced modes of identifying a clone or fake phones.

    A decade on I will scream at anyone who still possesses these attributes as technical know-how, as I was yelled at by a ‘’mobile phone god’’ at Circle after I fell victim to a scam of exchanging hard-earned cash for an inferior product.

    My story may curd your blood, but the good news is I have the antidote to detecting a fake phone and I’ll share with you shortly.

    As expected, fake phone manufacturers have grown their IT brains. Their low-grade products have become almost undetectable and very appealing to the eyes.

    Yes! They are very unnoticeable now. No wonder I recommended a fake phone to a friend. After assessing the phone, himself, he indicated, ‘’Charlie your eyes open oh’ ’I giggled with pride like a comedian ‘Charlie chaplain’.

    In the next hour, we were at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra with my phone as a reference in order to avoid purchasing a fake.

    At our first stop, we made a request for the brand of phone in question. The dealer picked one for us, we removed it from the box. I switched the phone on and begun to look out for the IMEI and serial number in and on the phone.

    Then I whispered to the friend, it’s fake, can’t you see that it delayed before starting. He also nodded in admiration, I felt proud, feigning as if was an IT savvy.

    Although it seems very easy, to detect fake phones, the task could be quite daunting due to the sophistication on the part of the fakers.

    To cut the long story short, the dealer heard the whispering and screamed: “Herh! I go to church am not like one of those thieves who trade in fake phones.

    He then demanded my phone, after accessing and assessing it for about 2 minutes, he told me mine was not original.

    I’ve been in this business for more than 5 years; I will educate you so that you don’t fall prey to such scams again.

    My ego came to a bow when he began to school me; He explained;

    1. Fake phones will demand, for a restart or they will start automatically when you insert a sim card.
    2. Surf the internet and find out the specifications and materials used in manufacturing the phone in question.
    3. For example, if the screen of an iPhone is manufactured of with glass and the iPhone under study is made of rubber then it’s fake.
    4. Check your phones IMEI.
    5. You will first go to settings, and then about the phone, after you click on status, then you will find your IMEI’s number there OR
    6. Dial*#06# to display your IMEI
    7. Follow suit to Imei.info, input your phone’s IMEI in the box and hit click.
    8. If the outcome is different from what your phone indicated then it’s not original.

    Phones noted to be cloned around the world include, Goophone i6s and i6s plus, Cool 999, C-002. It’s also interesting to note that some fake phone manufacturing companies launch specific phones before the original companies launch them.

    Conclusively, fake phones can be detected through the insertion of a sim, search for IMEI and learning about the specifications. These sound facts will save you and the world from phone scams.

    It’s been a little over a week since we had a new TECNO Spark 5 from TECNO Ghana. We released the photos of the unboxing some days ago and we’ve had loads of questions coming in about actual usage.

    In all the time that the device has been used, the one thing I have enjoyed is holding it in my hands. It feels natural in the palm and I can do most things in one hand, although I am a 2 hands phone user, mostly.

    I will like to speak about the silicon case again.

    It’s like that one thing that looks like it doesn’t cost a lot but brings so much value to the phone. A lot of people who saw the phone in my hands have often asked what phone it was just because of a glance they had at the back.

    That’s a whole lot of extrinsic value.

    I used the rear camera much more and it performs quite well. I tried to take very upclose photos as well as some photos outdoor.

    I did a few selfies (not sharing because I haven’t had a shave in all of this lockdown).

    The four cameras at the rear of the Spark 5 are a Depth lens, a 13MP Primary Camera with F/1.8 aperture, a Macro lens and an AI lens.

    Each one has unique functions. For example in the shots above, the rich colour tones of the photo taken at KNUST were optimised by the AI Camera.

    In fact, the AI camera can detect a variety of scenes and optimise photos for them. This includes HDR and different scenes.

    When it comes to the Operating System, this new version of HiOS was very stable for the time that I used the device.

    There was minimal lag, even when playing Asphalt 8 on the phone. The game run smoothly and the screen was just enough to enjoy.

    When it comes to the battery, it performed just as expected. On the days when I had more work to do and was just on social media, it lasted the whole day.

    On the days where I was gaming heavily (more than 3 hours), I needed to charge up when I got back home – around 5pm.

    All this while, the phone has been on WiFi.

    So if you are really going to get this phone, you don’t need to worry about battery performance.

    While writing this, I set up the screen lock and face unlock on the phone. They both worked so well.

    However, for me, the sweetest thing is the fingerprint sensor at the rear of the phone.

    Call me old school, but I find it so convenient. There are various lock options – the fingerprint, face unlock and basic pin/password lock.

    You also have Google My Protect so should you lose your phone, you have a chance to use it to find out where it may be at.

    RAM and Storage on our review unit was 2GB and 32GB respectively. After installing most of the apps I use on a daly basis, there was 730MB of RAM remaining.

    I recommend using Google Photos to back up your photos regularly for free so that you can always have enough storage for use.

    When you get the TECNO Spark 5, you are greeted with this very nice packaging. The packaging colours speaks to the impressive nature of the device, which we will see later on.

    Wow before we look at individual components, let’s talk about everything in the box once you bring the components out.

    The Device itself has a premium touch to it. The gradient colour makes it instantly recognisable and the vertically aligned quad-camera setup is appealing.

    And about that fingerprint sensor, I love that it is at the rear. That way, by the time you get the device off the table or from your pocket, it is already unlocked.

    At the bottom of the phone, there is the speaker grille, the USB port, the microphone and the much loved 3.5mm headphone jack. You don’t have to spend more for wireless accessories.

    One of the things I love about the Spark 5’s design can be seen at the right side of the phone. Just below the volume buttons is the power button which has a distinctively orange colour.

    I would like to highlight on the silicon case a bit. It has a very distinctive design pattern, that gives the device a very “tech feel”. Oh yeah, TECNO.

    Holding the Spark 5 felt natural. It was easy to hold and use the device in one hand. The power button and the volume keys were also very reachable.

    If you are looking at getting a new phone or upgrading your older model device, the TECNO Spark 5 is just what you need to consider.

    However, what differentiates the Spark 5 from this Spark 5 Air is the implementation of Android Go and a much bigger scree.

    Android Go means that the Spark 5 Air will likely be faster, and utilise the RAM on board, although the chipset is yet to be disclosed.

    Tecno Mobile seems to be on a roll with the release of new phones, even during the pandemic, the latest of which is the new TECNO Spark 5.

    The predecessor to the new TECNO Spark 5, was released just in September of 2019 on the Ghanaian, Nigerian and other African markets. However, it seems TECNO Mobile is ready to ride on the success of the Spark 4, coupled with some reported shortages to bring in the Spark 5; albeit a good move.

    This phone comes with a total of 6 flashlights for photography, with 4 of these lights at the rear of the phone, vertically placed around the rear cameras and the remaining two featuring as the dual front camera flash.

    When comparing the Spark 5 to the Spark 4, one noticeable upgrade, which is also very much welcomed would be in the area of the battery with an additional 1000 mAH over the TECNO Spark 4, bringing the total battery capacity of the new Spark 5 to a competitive 5000 mAH.

    On the software part, the Spark 5 is running on Android 10, with the latest version of TECNO’s UI skin – HiOS 6.

    Features of the TECNO Spark 5

    AI Quad Camera with AI Camera 3.0

    Equipped with a quad-camera setup which also has 4 flashlights at the back, the Spark 5 will allow for some great photography including, bokeh effect (blurred background) and AI portrait mode.

    According to TECNO, photos and selfies taken by the SPARK 5 would be much more impressive and attractive under most everyday conditions. The newly upgraded algorithm “AI Camera 3.0” makes noticeable improvements in the areas of AI HDR, AI Scene Detection and more amazing photography functions.

    Even in backlight scenarios, the new SPARK 5 could still be brighter and clearer, avoiding overexposure of the light parts and clearly showcasing dark details.

    Battery and Performance

    Bigger Battery, Dark Mode and Gesture Navigation

    With a 5000mAH battery, the Spark 5 is expected to last longer than the Spark 4. Coupled with an Android 10 OS, the Spark 5 will use some of the very good battery-saving functions of the OS.

    According to TECNO, the Spark 5 has a standby time of 526 hours.

    There is also the dark theme that has been included in this new version of HiOS. This means you can enjoy all the darkness that apps can bring while having less strain on your eyes. This should also make your battery last longer.

    However, don’t expect the TECNO Spark 5 to last a full day if you are going to be playing heavy games on it.

    It’s also disappointing to see the 2018 Mediatek Helio A22 MT6761 on the device.

    Infinix Hot 9 Features

    One of the first things you will notice about the Infinix Hot 9 is that there is no 16 GB model. That’s not surprising, considering that a lot of consumers have been complaining about the ROM and RAM options that most Infinix phones start from.

    When it comes to Camera, there is a quad setup, much like the trend for mid-range phones in 2020. The 4 rear cameras are a 13 MP (main), 2 MP (macro), 2 MP (depth) and a low light sensor. It is expected that with a buff in software, the combination of cameras at the back should deliver fairly good quality.

    The front of the Hot 9 houses a single camera that is no different from the Hot 8. It is a standard 8MP camera with flash.
