Apply for your Ghana Biometric Birth Certificate Online; Get it in 14 Days

A Biometric Birth Certificate is the singularly most important document you need to apply for a Ghanaian Passport; online or offline. Without the birth certificate, you can’t apply for the passport.

For a lot of people who have read our extensive guide on how to get a Ghanaian Biometric Passport in 15 days, the next question that comes up is always: “How do I get a Ghanaian Birth Certificate?”.

Well, as usual, Mfidie.com brings to you steps to take to get a Birth Certificate here in Ghana.

    What is a Birth Certificate?

According to American Bar, a certified birth certificate is an official government-issued record of a person’s birth, printed on security paper and includes an official raised, embossed, impressed or multicoloured seal.

Here in Ghana, the Births and Deaths Registry was established by the Act 301 of 1965, within the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, to handle and develop the births and deaths registration system in Ghana. However, the Registration of Births and Deaths Act of 1965, (Act 301) is the legislation currently in force in the country.

What documents you need to apply for a Biometric Birth Certificate in Ghana

As with any other application online, there is the need to verify your identity and to be sure you are actually the person applying.

  • How to quickly tell if someone has blocked you on WhatsApp

How to quickly tell if someone has blocked you on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps nowadays in Ghana and across the world. We use WhatsApp to stay in touch with family, friends, colleagues, etc. Whatsapp also has a host of rich features that take conversations to a whole new level.

Although WhatsApp is here to help us communicate, sometimes, you just want to avoid talking to some people for this, WhatsApp has “the blocking feature”.

There comes a time when someone gets blocked on WhatsApp. It could be you.

    Why do some people Block?

Blocking is useful when you want to avoid chatting with a person on WhatsApp. Sometimes, some people also want to avoid chatting with you. But how do you know when somebody blocks you?

If you’re using WhatsApp, you can easily tell that someone has blocked you since there are several indicators you can look for.

One of these is that you won’t be able to see the person’s “last seen” or “online” status in the chat window. However, some people do disable this feature, so it’s possible to remain friends with someone without seeing their “last seen” status.

If someone has blocked you, you won’t be able to call him nor see any changes he has made to his profile picture. You can still send him messages but, instead of seeing two checkmarks (one for the message sent and another for the message delivered), you’ll only see one check mark to indicate that your message has been sent.

The Fool Proof way to check if you have been blocked on WhatsApp

In order to verify that the person has really blocked you, use a friend’s (whose contact your suspect does not have) device to send a WhatsApp message to the person. If that message gets delivered (two checkmarks), then you really have been blocked.

It is always advisable to use this Fool Proof way because

    • People can hide or not use a profile photo, so you may think they have blocked you.
    • Some people can block you and your friends as well as your family members, It is always best to use a number he/she doesn’t have to test for “blocking”

Update: Some modded versions of WhatsApp allow users to disable double ticks even though they receive messages.

Hopefully, next time you are blocked, you are able to notice early enough. However, be cautious. This is because anyone who does not have a profile photo, hidden his/her about and has failed to come online in a long time will exhibit “symptoms that he/she has blocked you”.

  • Election Jobs Online Scam: Beware – There are no 50,000 Jobs at any Election Committee

Election Jobs Online Scam: Beware – There are no 50,000 Jobs at any Election Committee

I woke up yesterday to multiple messages in my WhatsApp Groups about jobs at an Election Comittee.

I opened the link and immediately knew it was a lie, a scam, a phishing attempt to collect information about people.

Simply put, there is no such election job opportunity out there and the malicious link that was put out is simply aimed at stealing the data of the individuals who fill it.

How the 50000 election job scam works

A lot of individuals would think – well, it is harmless to fill this form. It’s a try your luck kind of thing.

The job scam works by first collecting your data, then encouraging you to share the link over WhatsApp to your friends.

There is a little bit of using your social currency to gain traction for their scam.

They way users are tricked to share over WhatsApp is that, much like most scams of this nature, the website will say you can only complete the process by sharing.

Most individuals would therefore go ahead and share – trapping their own family and friends.

When people submit their data to the scammers, the scammers can use them to apply for benefits, which the real users might not even be aware of.

Some scammers even use this data to fill petitions supporting some ideas and campaigns the real users might not even be interested in.

How to protect yourself for scams of this nature

There is no free lunch – sadly.

If you see an opportunity online asking you to complete mostly very “easy” tasks in return for money, scrutinise it.

Also, be careful of what push notifications you accept via your browser. Always, when giving out your personal information online, make sure it is to a trusted website.

And if it has something to do with a Government agency – like elections, verify from the agency or organisation website or official social media platform first.

    Conclusion

Hope this helps anyone who is looking for information as to whether the 50,000 election jobs ad they saw was true. Well, you have your answer – It is a scam perpetrated by individuals interested in stealing your personal data.

Share with your family and friends and all those groups where this fake job link has been posted at. If you are in Ghana, you can look our for genuine job sites where you can apply for positions online.

All the best, and thank you for reading.

Itel S16 (2020): Price, Specs, Features And Where To Buy

It was just in March of this year that itel Mobile released the A56, which targeted at entry-level budget users has been doing so well.

When it comes to smartphones in Africa, itel is gradually gaining grounds although their spec sheet is mostly not appealing to those who seek good performance.

The new itel S16 looks to be an upgrade over the earlier released A56, although they are not in the same series in the itel product line.

    itel S16 Features

    Camera

This time, itel has a triple rear camera set up comprising of an 8MP main shooter and a 2MP Macro lens with the last lens being a depth sensor.

According to itel, the camera’s will also rely on “AI” to make photos more beautiful. Here are what each lens’ main purpose is:

    • 2MP Macro Camera: Take crisp photos up close with the new
    • 8MP Main Camera: High-quality photos in any type of lighting
    • Depth Sensing Camera: Create stunning bokeh shots

The itel S16 will definitely not have the best photos on the market, but it will strive to give more at the price range of the phone.

    Software, Security, Performance

Performance-wise, the itel S16 comes with the same chipset as the itel A56. Therefore if you have used the A56, you should expect the same level of performance on the S16.

What’s new with the S16 is the introduction of Android 10 (yeah, it’s Q3 2020, but Android 10 seems pretty decent for the level the market is targeting.

It is also Android Go, so unless you are trying to use very heavy apps, the 1GB Ram of the device should hold up most lite apps.

On the side of security, itel promises a face unlock – although you shouldn’t be banking your security hopes on a device under $70. There is also the finger print sensor at the rear of the device.

    Battery

itel’s S16 is powered by a standard 4,000 mAh battery. With the battery management of Android Go, you should be able to use this device for much of the day without requiring a charge.

However, if you want to heavily use it, you might want to carry your charger along.

This will run alongside the offline checking of Voter’s ID details which is scheduled to end on Friday 25 September, 2020.

It is not yet known if the electronic means (SMS) will continue to run once the offline process comes to an end.

Earlier on, the Electoral Commission had rolled out a digital queue management system for the Voter Registration exercise.

    4. Click on send to send the ID to 1422
