Internet Settings for MTN, AirtelTigo, Vodafone, and Glo in Ghana

Most often, when we have a new phone, it is usually difficult to configure the internet settings and we are left with no choice but to go to the Customer Service of the Network Operator for your phones and other devices to be configured. Well, I bring you the recommended internet settings for all the networks in Ghana.

For android users, you can just use the “General” settings that I have used on every android phone and it works perfectly.

How to set up internet settings in Ghana

    1. Go to your device’s settings
    2. Go to wireless and settings
    3. Select Mobile networks
    4. Select Access Points Names
    5. Create new APN by taping the “+” sign or pressing Menu and selecting new APN
    6. Select Name and enter “General”
    7. Select APN and enter “internet”
    8. Save the Settings
    9. Activate to use new Access Point Name

The Configuration above should work for every device. However, I attach below network-specific configurations, which are especially useful for feature phones.

  • MTN Jara: How to Subscribe for Unlimited Calls for 50 Pesewas

MTN Jara: How to Subscribe for Unlimited Calls for 50 Pesewas

    MTN Jara: What is it?

MTN Jara is an ongoing promotion by MTN Ghana that enables MTN customers in selected regions of the country to make unlimited calls to other MTN numbers for 24 hours at the cost of GHS 0.50. The promotion works in the Upper East, Upper West, Nothern, Volta, and Brong Ahafo Regions of Ghana.

How to Subscribe to MTN Jara in Ghana

Subscribing to the MTN Jara promotion is easy. All you have to do is dial the code *5055# and follow the prompts. The Jara is an auto-renewal promotion, therefore you will continue to be deducted 50 pesewas every day until you deactivate the service. If you activate the service while in any of the promotional zone regions (Upper East, Upper West, Nothern, Volta and Brong Ahafo), you can still make free unlimited calls to someone who is in the non-promotional regions (Ashanti, Western, Eastern, Central, Greater Accra).

The promotion automatically renews at 12 am each night if the subscriber has at least 50 pesewas of credit available on their line.

    Why MTN Jara?

I feel MTN Ghana has introduced the Jara service in these 5 regions because residents of the regions do not make a lot of calls. In encouraging them to call each other, MTN can make some money as well as influence their mobile user behaviour. In the future, when the Jara promotion is over, residents will still need to make calls and they would be willing to pay more.

    Information Worth Mentioning

The MTN Jara promo does not work on Sundays. This means that activating the service on a Sunday will have your GHS 0.50 deducted but you will not benefit from the promo. For other shortcodes to all other MTN Service, read this: Shortcodes to MTN Services in Ghana

Do you live in any of the regions where you can activate the Jara promotion? Are you facing difficulties with the MTN Jara Code? Leave a comment below and we will respond shortly. Don’t forget to share this post with your friends.

  • Prayer or High Five? This Emoji is getting people confused

Prayer or High Five? This Emoji is getting people confused

Somewhere last week, a friend spoke to me about how Ghanaians “interpret emojis in our own way”. I personally am of the view that Emojis could mean different things depending on the parties using it to communicate. There has been news of teens using Emojis to secretly trade drugs online elsewhere in the world.

However, the debate as to the “actual meaning of the emoji ???? is one that is funny and very confusing. A few people are surprised to learn that the emoji which they had always thought was a prayer emoji was actually two people high-fiving each other.

The emoji shows what looks like two hands placed together in supplication.

However, the truth is now out.

WhatsApp Web allows a user to search various emotions one may want to express by way of an emoji. You get suggestions of an emoji by typing what you want to say. These emoji suggestions depend on the words sent.

    High Five

I started by searching for “High Five” on WhatsApp Web. Honestly, I didn’t expect to see anything near the results that came up. At that point, I thought: “My whole life has been a lie too”.

The Folded Hands Emoji could actually mean "high five".
The Folded Hands Emoji could actually mean “high five”.

    Pray

Surprised by what my “high five” search presented, I continued to search for “pray” among the emojis. Afterall, something as basic as a “pray” would definitely have an emoji.

Using WhatsApp Web again, I searched for “pray” within the emojis.

Right! Folded Hands emoji could also be used to represent prayer

    Emoji Matters

Well, we haven’t be lied to as suggested by Twitter user @Mahnoorizhere. An emoji could have more than one meaning. To clarify things further about this folded hands emoji, I surfed through “the Wikipedia of emojis” – Emojipedia.org.

I found out that the folded hands emoji, among other things could be used to represent the following:

    • High Five
    • Please
    • Praying Hands
    • Thank You

  • Guide on How to Sell Computer Parts and Electronic Devices

Guide on How to Sell Computer Parts and Electronic Devices

When you are ready to buy a new PC, laptop, or tablet, it is important to think about how to sell used electronic devices. Unless you would like to keep it as an alternative in case the new one has some issue, there is no other reason for accumulating old computer parts. It can simply occupy space in the house and turn into junk. Rather than waiting for it to turn old and obsolete, you can always sell it on a few websites or on peer-to-peer platforms. By selling the old computers and PCs, you can recycle or reuse them in the market. It has a demand in the used markets where the systems can be revived, recycled, and sold at market price. Instead of throwing away the junk into landfills, you can sell it and dispose of it safely.

If the old parts cannot be recycled or reused, they are sent to places that extract the metals from the structure. This way, it can still be used for some purposes, while at the same time it can be discarded in a safe manner. You can sell old computers and laptops to many e-commerce websites. You can also sell it on platforms such as Facebook, Amazon, and eBay. If your friends are looking for some particular old PCs or processors, you can also sell them to them.

Factors to be considered before selling old computer devices and parts

You should check how old your PC or laptop is in order to understand the selling price. You should do basic research to understand if those components have a demand in the market. If there is more demand but fewer sellers, you can expect a good price in return. You must research the possible options and prices that you can get before selling it.

In order to research the sale price, you should make a note of all the specifications, features, device name, brand, serial number, and all the other basic details. This information can help you to understand the true value of your specific device. Before selling, you should get a clear idea of the listing fees, packing fees, shipping costs, and any other charges. If your device is not worth to justify these costs, you may end up losing money rather than gaining anything. Hence, it is essential to clear all the additional charges before starting the process.

Consider fees and charges before selling computer parts

Some places may charge a selling fee. For example, if you sell on eBay, you would have to pay an additional selling fee. If you choose peer-to-peer platforms like Facebook or Reddit, you can save the selling cost. If you have any local community classified, you can use it to find a prospective buyer. The advantage is you can sell easily without losing much value in selling fees, packaging fees, and such other charges. But there is a small amount of risk involved when dealing with strangers. If you are unable to get the amount back, you can lose the entire transaction. When you can complete the process on platforms like eBay and Amazon, you can be rest assured about the transaction.

If you use classified platforms or auction marketplaces, you can expect a good amount for your devices. But it is a time-consuming process that may not get you a quick return as soon as possible. It also involves steps like making an account, entering the details, uploading photos, packaging, and finally shipping it. You may also have to wait before you get a good deal for your device.

The trade-in websites are one of the fastest ways to get rid of your computers, PCs, laptops, and tablets. You have to enter the information of what you would like to sell. The websites send an instant quote of the materials. In this case, you do not have to worry about any waiting period. It happens in a quick manner and you can get cash fast. In most cases, they handle the shipping charges too.

Places where you can sell old computer parts and devices

Let us dive into some of the popular places where you can sell your old computer parts, PCs, laptops, and tablets safely.

    Trade-in websites

This is one of the safest and fastest places for selling your old devices. There are many trade-in websites that accept old devices and offer a fair value in the market. You can choose a reputable and respected company like BuySellRam.com. They have extensive experience in the industry, you can expect good value for your materials. When you are ready to sell, you can contact us to get a quote.

You would realize that the biggest advantage is faster turn-around time. You can expect a very competitive quote within a few hours. Since they deal with all types of devices, CPUs, memory, GPUs, and other hardware, you can get the current price reflected in the market. Besides, by dealing with a reputable company, you know you are in good hands. You can get a good price for your old parts and can use them towards the next purchase. It is fast, convenient, and absolutely hassle-free.

    eBay

A popular e-commerce platform dealing with a wide range of products, eBay is another choice for selling your old computers, PCs, and other devices. It has a large network of potential buyers and sellers that can increase your audience base. If you are selling an old device that is in great demand, you can expect an excellent return from the bidding process. But if the items are not in demand in the current market, you may have to wait for a longer time or may not even get any bids in return. In this case, a long waiting time may prove to be a major disadvantage. It is beneficial to perform research and understand the demand beforehand. Another potential issue involves the insertion fees. eBay charges fees for listing your devices. You must also consider any other charges such as listing, packaging, and shipping fees. As eBay takes away a small portion of the final sales, you must also calculate that amount to know your final gain. Knowing all your options and costs can give you a clear idea of whether the transaction shall work in your favor.

    Amazon

This is another popular platform for online sales. Here, you can enjoy a wide audience base as it attracts buyers and sellers for safe transactions. You do not have to worry about scammers or frauds as it verifies the accounts. You must post a listing with a detailed description of the product. As you are a seller, you must make efforts to ensure that you are selling it well with proper descriptions and features. Uploading clear photographs, writing the overall condition in detail, and giving all information as much as possible are some of the steps that can ensure interest from the sellersAmazon has different plans for selling fees. It is important to calculate it well to understand the charges upfront. You can also decide whether you would pay the shipping fees or add them to your listing. It is a platform for peace of mind but may or may not work for you depending on the charges and type of devices that you are selling.

    Facebook marketplace

Networking is the key highlight when you choose a Facebook marketplace for your transactions. There are many buyers, sellers, peers, connections, and friends on the marketplace that can increase the reach. Like other places where you can sell your old devices by yourself, you can also sell them on the Facebook marketplace too. In order to sell it quickly, you must describe the product well. You can list the original specifications, features, current condition, usage, and other information. Posting clear pictures is important to provide a clear idea. You must be cautious while using the platform. It is necessary to ensure the authenticity of the buyer before shipping the products. If you are going to hand it over in person, you must be cautious and choose a public place.

    Reddit.com

It is one of the subreddit communities within Reddit that has a strong network of computer enthusiasts. You can reach a large audience who are interested in buying particular old CPUs, GPUs, hardware, memory, and other devices. It is one of the safe places for selling as the forums are moderated and scammers are kept far away. You can expect fair values for your devices. In order to sell, you would need an account that is active. As Reddit focuses on your past transactions and account history as a way to ensure authenticity, you may not find it useful with a brand-new account. If time is of the essence, you cannot expect any use from the platform. Reddit has a trading option where you can exchange your devices. But if you are interested in selling it for cash, you may find it beneficial to opt for one of the trade-in websites.

    Craigslist

This may be one of the least preferred places for selling your old devices. You may encounter many fake buyers or scammers; hence it is necessary to be careful before finalizing. It allows you to reach a wider audience in the local neighborhoods. If you are able to get a good price and stay safe during the transaction, you can go ahead with the deal.

    Pinterest

Pinterest is a place where you can find images and ideas about a variety of topics. You can find information about selling your old computers and devices in the form of blog posts.

It is exciting to get a new electronic device. It’s even better to be able to sell your used electronic devices for a great price. Do a little research and sell it with confidence.

  • 5 Reasons why you should buy the TECNO Spark 7p now

5 Reasons why you should buy the TECNO Spark 7p now

It’s been a while since TECNO released the Spark 7p and I have been using it for close to three weeks. As someone who loves to “demand” a lot from the performance of devices, I kept in mind that the Spark series are entry level devices.

Over the last three weeks however, I have been amazed by how well the Spark 7p performs if held by the entry level standards.

What’s more, some of my friends who used the device have also held similar views especially in the areas of gaming and battery life.

Today, I want to explore with you some of the reasons why you should get the Spark 7p if you are looking for a budget device that performs well too.

    Let’s get into it.

    Good Gaming Experience

Everyone loves to game on their smartphones nowadays. The Spark 7p can comfortably play some of the most popular Android games at normal graphic settings. Games like NBA2K20, Asphalt 8 and 9, PUBG, and Call of Duty Mobile all play at good speeds with very minimal frame drops.

So if you are looking for an affordable device to play your games with, the Spark 7p is definitely a good starting point. Check out a full gaming test of the Spark 7p below.

    Great Battery Life

The Spark 7p really has a good battery life when you are using it and not just on paper as you would find on some other devices in this range. The device comes with a 5000mAh capacity battery which in itself is good.

So when gaming for about 30 minutes intense, you only have about 5% to 8% drop in the battery life as seen in the video above.

Also, with normal use with Instagram, Telegram, Facebook, Phoenix Browser, Chrome Browser, Spotify and some gaming (Sonic Dash), the battery was still able to last me a full day and over.

On one particular day, I forgot to charge the phone and stepped out of home with a 17% battery. By using the Ultra Battery Saver mode, I still had 11% battery remaining when I returned home later. As with all devices, you need to pick up some good battery-saving habits to even enjoy longer battery life.

    Budget Friendly

Everyone buys a phone that is within their budget. So when a budget phone comes around offering a lot more than basic features, then it is worth considering.

The TECNO Spark 7p is selling on the market now in Ghana and selling for GHS 750 for the 64GB + 4GB variant and GHS 895 for the 128GB + 4GB variant.

Well, some might say the price is too steep to be called budget. However, when you look at the prices of phones nowadays, this is as affordable as it gets for a device that can be used for 2+ years with the right software updates.

With the large storage available, you should not have an issue with space. If you do, you could utilise Google Photo’s backup features.

    AI Camera Features

I’m not a big fan of big terminologies for small functions. When it comes to camera’s I just want it to work. However, considering the market the phone is targerted at, the AI features TECNO has in the camera will help to take nicer photos.

Now, you don’t need to be an expert photographer to change modes for the camera. The camera can detect if you want to take selfies and switch to portrait.

If your background is over lit, the camera even brings on the HDR Backlight function to help keep your image properly exposed. The camera also detects the eyes in photos and uses that to focus images better.

    Big Screen to do more

The 6.8″ Dot Notch Screen that is on the TECNO Spark 7 is big enough to give a good viewing experience. When watching YouTube or other media, you can even zoom in so the media fill the whole screen.

Also, when it comes to gaming, you are able to have your hands on the phone and also enjoy a good view of the game. The screen works fairly well in the sunlight and has colours that are almost true tone. Be careful of the eye care settings as this changes how the colour outputs on the device.

Overall, this screen is big enough to give you maximum enjoyment whether you are on instagram, YouTube or you are just gaming your hearts out.

    Conclusion

The TECNO Spark 7p is the affordable under GHS 900 option phone to get right now. With good battery to game and move around with and a screen that allows you to enjoy your content, this phone has a lot of basis covered.

    • Colours: Magnet Black, Alps Blue, Spruce Green, Summer Mojito

    Now to the unboxing.

    TECNO Spark 7p Unboxing

My TECNO Spark 7p came in a very exciting yellow-like box. The packaging reels you in to what you would find inside the box.

Inside the box of the TECNO Spark 7p, you get:

    • The TECNO Spark 7p Phone
    • A 13-month warranty Card
    • A transparent Silicon case
    • A rectangular head sim ejector
    • A Power Adapter
    • A micro USB cable and
    • A 3.5mm earpiece

This particular device we unboxed was provided by TECNO Ghana and it came in the Alps Blue colour with the very evident TECNO branding behind it.

At the front of the phone is the 6.8″ Dot Notch Screen with a 90Hz Refresh rate. Yes, a 90Hz refresh rate on a TECNO Spark device. Inside the phone’s settings however, you can decide to change it to 60Hz refresh rate if longer battery life is what’s most important to you.

Otherwise, just leave the refresh rate settings at “Auto-Switch” and take advantage of all those apps that can offer you more smoothness when needed.

Behind the phone, there is the evident TECNO Spark branding. The branding is even very visible from the silicon case.

Also, there is the fingerprint sensor which is conveniently positioned just to the right of the Tripple AI Camera set up. The position of the fingerprint sensor makes it difficult to miss it. And after I set it up, in 9 out of 10 times, it unlocked almost immediately.

Also at the rear of the TECNO Spark 7p, there is the AI Camera setup consisting of three camera’s positioned vertically. Just to the right of depth sensor camera, there is the quad flash light and an inscription below that.

TECNO seems to make sure that consumers see the “AI” branding with no chance to miss it. While using the Camera, I realised the AI mode changes scenes based on what you are looking at via the camera viewfinder and it is pretty accurate too.

The left of the phone follows the TECNO tradition with a tray that houses 2 SIMs and an SD Card.

To the right, there is the power and volume buttons.

Overall, holding and using the Spark 7p felt very natural. It fitted right in my hands and was not so big to hold as I feel with some devices.

If you want to get good value for money in the below GHS 900 range, then the TECNO Spark 7p is definitely worth considering.

Where to buy TECNO Spark 7p in Ghana

The TECNO Spark 7p is available on the market now in Ghana and selling for GHS 750 for the 64GB variant and GHS 895 for the 128GB variant. Both come with 4GB RAM.

  • How to transfer MTN Bundle directly to a friend from Airtime/MoMo Wallet

How to transfer MTN Bundle directly to a friend from Airtime/MoMo Wallet

Using the internet is one of the main reasons why most of us have smartphones nowadays. We have become so accustomed to using the internet that we sometimes forget that some of the services we use on the regular make use of the internet.

However, to use the internet, you need to have an active subscription with your Internet Service Provider. Unless, of course, you have access to WiFi that has been subscribed by yourself or someone else.

For most of us, however, mobile data or cellular remains the regular way we connect to the various internet service. It is due to this that we are always on the lookout for mobile data deals that can give us great benefit for our money. Almost no one is on the Pay As You Go mode of using the internet anymore, now that it is not the default for browsing.

A lot of people have contacted me via private message about the possibility of tranfering their data to other MTN subscribers. Currently, there is no code to transfer MTN Data or bundle from one subscriber to the other. Anyone who claims to offer such a service is a fraud.

However, MTN Ghana allows subscribers to transfer and convert airtime or Mobile Money to other individuals as Data directly on their phones.

In this article, we will look at how you can transfer MTN Data Bundle to another MTN subscriber directly from your MoMo account or from your airtime balance.

How to transfer MTN Bundle to Family and Friends

    1. Dial *138# to access the MTN bundle menu
    2. Choose the option of the preferred bundle you want to buy (1 for Normal Data; 2 for Midnight Bundles; 3 for Kokrokoo Bundle; 4 for Social Media Bundles)
    3. Choose option 2 (Buy for others)
    4. Enter the MTN Phone number of the recipient
    5. Repeat the phone number to verify
    6. Choose the amount corresponding to the value and amount of the data bundle you want to buy
    7. You’ll get a prompt verifying your choice, choose 1 to confirm
    8. Choose payment mode (Airtime or Mobile Money)
    9. With Airtime, the bundle will be sent to the person instantly. If you choose MoMo, confirm the transaction when the MoMo prompt appears on your phone.
    10. You’ll receive a text message confirming that you have successfully transferred the data bundle to the individual.
Confirmation message when you transfer data to another individual

Although this method is very efficient for transferring data bundle to other individuals, I usually find myself sending airtime or actual Mobile Money to individuals more.

This is because many people have their preferences when it comes to the kind of bundle they would want to subscribe to. For example, my closes friends enjoy using MTN’s 141 shortcode service to subscribe to cheaper data.

Also, I love the fact that if you go the longer route of MoMo to Airtime and Airtime to Data Bundle, you get bonus credit for calls. And there is a clever trick to extend that bonus so that it never has to expire too.

    Conclusion

Sharing is caring. If you have enough airtime, you should certainly consider bundling for a family or friend. Remember that this method works well in the myMTN App too.

Have any cool MTN tricks, be sure to share them with us.

  • Free Browsing Cheats and Tricks in Ghana; Truth or Jest?

Free Browsing Cheats and Tricks in Ghana; Truth or Jest?

The notion of Free Browsing has been around for a long time.

The idea that you can be on a telecommunications network and not pay but enjoy data packages is one that amuses and will continue to amuse a lot of people. But is free browsing real?

Well, to some extent, I would agree that there has been a lot of “free browsing” that have been available since the days of java phones and “dead sims”. However, let us concentrate on current occurrences and see if this browsing is really “free”.

    Rumoured 2021 Free Browsing Cheats

Rumoured Glo Ghana 2021 Free Browsing Cheat

This one readily comes to memory as I write this post, particularly because I am a “Big Glo Customer” and the emergence of this so-called free browsing trick affected me negatively. My first experience with this promise of cheap and almost free data was in June 2017 on Facebook. I was sharing posts onto facebook groups when I chanced upon a message encouraging people to pay for Glo data at ridiculously low prices.

Data was available to purchase with the seller seeming not to lose anything.
Data were available to purchase with the seller seeming not to lose anything.

I contacted a few friends about how legit this data offer was. The outcome was quite simple: “Someone has been able to hack Glo and they are sharing data but some greedy ones are selling it”. I don’t know how true this hack thing was but what I did find out was that, yes, data has been sold and it was working perfectly well! Could this be a free browsing cheat well executed?

Well, I heard all the data “vanished” after some time. I personally believed this “free browsing” was real because during the period it was “active”, my network (Glo) became terribly slow.

Rumoured Vodafone Ghana 2021 Free Browsing Cheat

Among my friends, Vodafone and MTN have garnered a lot of respect because of their “tight security”. Oh, I do believe those two have tight security but as to how tight, I do not know.

In the case of the Vodafone Free browsing, it appears the discoverers of this trick could even auto-renew whatever bundle they came “stole”. The whole of last month, I had to respond to a lot of WhatsApp messages from people asking me if 6GB of Vodafone Data was been sold for GHS 30 and GHS 20. I became suspicious as there seemed to be no fixed price for the data, but rather a seemingly “reduce price to gain more buyers” methodology.

After speaking to someone I met online, he confirmed my suspicions. There was indeed Vodafone Free Browsing cheats that delivered 6GB and 2GB data, which could also varnish. According to him, Vodafone Ghana knew what was up but “it seemed they had no way to stop it”. Before writing this article, I contacted another person who was on social media selling the Vodafone Data. He maintained that it was a mistake and that he had never sold any Vodafone Data.

My take on Free Browsing Cheats and Tricks

It’s human nature to love free things, and people will continue to go in for this. The telecommunications network here in Ghana, if they really want to stop these “Free Browsing Cheats and Data thefts” will have to consider dropping their data charges and adding more value to the data they provide.

Vodafone X started well but after the price increase in the bundles somewhere in August 2015, coupled with recent dissatisfaction on social media, Vodafone may have to rethink the offer. Tigo Tribe and Big Time Datahas also got a lot of people puzzled after the introduction of the “0.10 GHS” subscription and as for MTN Pulse, it just does not seem enough for anyone.

MTN Ahomka Loan: Apply for MoMo Loan of GHS 1,000 during COVID-19

MTN Ghana has rolled out a new loan service called the MTN Ahomka Loan. This Mobile Money loan follows in the footsteps of similar products offered by the telecommunications network.

There are already a lot of mobile money loans in Ghana and although not explicitly stated, the new loan is seen by many as a way to ease the financial pain of the lockdown and other COVID-19 effects.

“Ahomka” can be translated as meaning “Emotions” or “Feelings” and this could be MTN Ghana’s response to the plight of the many Ghanaians who are struggling financially.

The loan application is not long and in just one minute, you can complete it.

    Requirements for MTN Ahomka Loan

    • You should be 18 years and above.
    • You should be an MTN Ghana Subscriber for more than 90 days.
    • You should be registered on the MTN Mobile Money Service and actively use the Wallet for transactions, including sending and receiving money, purchasing airtime, paying bills among others.
    • If your MTN Mobile Money wallet activity is too low, or you have not used the wallet at all, you may not be able to qualify for the MTN Ahomka Loan.

To borrow money from MTN Ahomka Loan, follow the following steps via USSD your phone:

Ahomka loan has an interest rate of 6.9% which increases to 12.5% when you default. The maximum amount you can receive via the loan is GHS 1000

How to make Money (GHS 1,500+) weekly in Ghana with Uber

I have met a lot of people asking me how to make money with readily available technology here in Ghana. Well, one answer I have mostly not thought about, maybe because it never really occurred to me is Uber.

The truth is that a few drivers I have spoken to who do Uber here in Accra confess they make about GHS 1,500 weekly from Uber when they work full time.

Uber is very profitable in Ghana once you know your way around it. But for beginners, someone may ask: “What is Uber?”.

    What is Uber?

Uber is a technologically-driven taxi company that helps customers hail comfortable taxis from anywhere, using just their smartphone application.

The way Uber operates is actually very simple on the surface. If Kofi wants a ride, he downloads the application (one time) and requests for a ride after registering (also one time). Once he makes his request, the application does all of the calculations and tells Kofi how much the ride is estimated to cost.

After Kofi confirms the trip, the app then matches him to the nearest pre-verified Uber Vehicle available. Kofi chooses which payment method to use, which is mostly cash here in Accra and Kumasi.

Once the ride is completed, Kofi receives his receipt via email.

So how are people making Money through Uber?

The truth is that Uber does not own any vehicles (most people don’t know this). Yes, you heard right. All the vehicles belong to private individuals. Uber provides just the software to connect drivers with riders, and so the company doesn’t own any vehicles.

What happens is that riders pay the money to the driver and Uber charges a percentage of the fee for the use of the software. Here in Ghana, it is somewhere around 25%.

Most people make money on the Uber platform by driving their cars themselves and picking up Uber customers. The more customers and trips, the more money there is to be made. Some rich people also have a fleet of cars and hire drivers to drive these cars.

By using Uber’s Fleet App, they are able to monitor the vehicles and make money as well as pay the individual drivers per the agreed terms.

However, the easiest and most affordable way to make money with Uber is to drive your own car and be your own boss. You can even do this part-time and make some good money.

As a driver on Uber, you are self-employed and as such, you have complete control over what hours you work.  You can adjust your availability to suit you, and the company only sends you customers (riders) during your available hours when you are online on the app.

Who can register as an Uber Partner in Ghana and start making money?

Depending on your status, Uber offers flexibility as to who can register on the network. You can register on the network as:

    • A driver with no access to a vehicle
    • A vehicle owner who wants to drive
    • A vehicle owner planning to employ someone to drive
