Features of the TECNO Spark 5 Air

Most of the features of the TECNO Spark 5 Air are just similar to those of the Spark 5, which we have discusses here – TECNO Spark 5 Features.

However, what differentiates the Spark 5 from this Spark 5 Air is the implementation of Android Go and a much bigger scree.

Android Go means that the Spark 5 Air will likely be faster, and utilise the RAM on board, although the chipset is yet to be disclosed.

With a bigger screen of about 0.4 inches more than the Spark 5, the Spark 5 Air should also be the better option if you are all into consuming multimedia content on your device.

  • How to get Vodafone 4G Service & Settings in Ghana

How to get Vodafone 4G Service & Settings in Ghana

Vodafone Ghana will began rolling out its 4G services to the general public in Ghana from 19th March 2019.

Vodafone Ghana got the 4G licence from the National Communications Authority (NCA), at the end of 2018. The NCA gave the telecom company one slot of the 2x5MHz frequency spectrum in the 800MHz band for mobile services.

The rollout of Vodafone’s 4G service was supposed to start somewhere in the second quarter of this year. However, it seems to have come a little bit earlier than that.

Vodafone will now become the second telecom operator in Ghana to run the 4G network, rivals MTN Ghana.

How to check if your phone and sim card support Vodafone 4G

To check if you can enjoy Vodafone Ghana’s 4G service:

    1. Dial *700# on your Vodafone handset
    2. Select option 6 (Check 4G Status)
    3. Select option 1 (Check 4G Phone or SIM Readiness)
    4. You will receive a prompt that gives you the status of your phone and SIM Card

Alternatively, you can just dial *700*6*1# and you will instantly receive the prompt to know your status.

Meaning of Results and how to get Vodafone 4G

If the result of the *700*6*1# check says that your phone and SIM are both 4G ready, then you don’t have to worry. You can start enjoying Vodafone Ghana’s 4G right away.

However, if it says your SIM is 4G ready, but your phone is not, this is because your phone does not support 4G or LTE services. You will have to get a new phone.

If the results indicate that your SIM is not 4G ready, you can visit any of Vodafone Ghana’s shop and have a 4G SIM.

    Vodafone 4G is here

This initial deployment of Vodafone Ghana’s 4G is happening in major cities in the country. Already, Vodafone Ghana has more than 200 sites, where customers can access the 4G service all across the country.

What do you think about the 4G service?

Infinix Note 7 (2020): Price, Specs, Features, Where to Buy & Best Deals

Infinix Mobility is back with another new product in their line of Note Series – The Infinix Note 7. This new device is here to replace the Infinix Note 6, which was released last year in only select markets.

Another interesting thing Infinix has done on the Note 7 is that they put the fingerprint scanner over on the side. This, with the face unlock of the device ensures that it unlocks very fast.

There is a 5,000 milliamp hour battery to power all of the features of the phone.

You also get a hole-punch cutout up in the top left corner. This implementation of the camera is one of the least distracting implementation you’ll see on a device because you can still watch a video and not feel like the camera is in the way.

    • 1 Warranty Card

Features of the Infinix Note 7

Android 10 Experience with Gesture Controls

The Note 7 from Infinix comes loaded with the latest version of Google’s Android Operating System – Android 10.

This enables the phone to take advantage of the many refinements that Android 10 presents. The Note 7 has a dark mode system UI and gesture navigation.

Dark mode enables you to change the UI elements of your phone as well as supported apps to a dark interface. This enables you to save battery and also makes it easier to watch your display for longer.

Gesture control on the other hand makes navigating your phone, apps and functions very easy. With very simple navigations, you can suspend apps, move between apps and go back to a previous state or even go straight to the homescreen.

Superior Camera experience for Photos and Videos

The main camera on the Infinix Note 7 features a 48MP ultra-high resolution lens. This means you get to take higher resolution photos so that you don’t miss the details.

With Infinix’s advanced AI Image Stabilisation, there is the promise of Night mode images that are blur-free even in very low light.

There is also a depth camera with an aperture of f/2.4 so that portraits get that blurred effect at every photo click.

When it comes to videos, you can shoot good quality at 1080p even without the use of flash.

    Longer Battery and Faster Charging

A 5000 mAh battery powers up the Infinix Note 7. The device also features support for 18W fast charging.

What’s yet disappointing is that there is no USB-C port so you are stuck with the old school micro usb charging port.

  • TECNO Spark 5 (2020): Price, Specs, Features & Best Deals

TECNO Spark 5 (2020): Price, Specs, Features & Best Deals

Tecno Mobile seems to be on a roll with the release of new phones, even during the pandemic, the latest of which is the new TECNO Spark 5.

The predecessor to the new TECNO Spark 5, was released just in September of 2019 on the Ghanaian, Nigerian and other African markets. However, it seems TECNO Mobile is ready to ride on the success of the Spark 4, coupled with some reported shortages to bring in the Spark 5; albeit a good move.

This phone comes with a total of 6 flashlights for photography, with 4 of these lights at the rear of the phone, vertically placed around the rear cameras and the remaining two featuring as the dual front camera flash.

When comparing the Spark 5 to the Spark 4, one noticeable upgrade, which is also very much welcomed would be in the area of the battery with an additional 1000 mAH over the TECNO Spark 4, bringing the total battery capacity of the new Spark 5 to a competitive 5000 mAH.

On the software part, the Spark 5 is running on Android 10, with the latest version of TECNO’s UI skin – HiOS 6.

We have done a full comparison of the TECNO Spark 5 and TECNO Spark 4 in the latter part of this article. Be sure to check it.

    TECNO Spark 5 Specs

Here are the known specifications of the TECNO Spark 5:

    • Display: 6.6″ Dot-In Screen
    • Front Camera: 8MP Front Camera with Dual Flash

    • OS: Android™ 10 with HiOS 6
    • Network 4G LTE/3G/2G
    • Storage: 32 GB
    • RAM: 2 GB
    • Processor: Mediatek Helio A22 MT6761

    https://mfidie.com/shop/tecno-spark-5/

Features of the TECNO Spark 5

AI Quad Camera with AI Camera 3.0

Equipped with a quad-camera setup which also has 4 flashlights at the back, the Spark 5 will allow for some great photography including, bokeh effect (blurred background) and AI portrait mode.

    The 4 Cameras consist of:

    • a Depth lens
    • a 13MP Primary Camera with F/1.8 aperture
    • a Macro lens and
    • an AI lens

With AI Scene detection, the camera can detect 10 different scenes. These are food, pets, flowers, street, portrait, night mode, night portrait, AI HDR, standard HDR and shopping mall environment.

According to TECNO, photos and selfies taken by the SPARK 5 would be much more impressive and attractive under most everyday conditions. The newly upgraded algorithm “AI Camera 3.0” makes noticeable improvements in the areas of AI HDR, AI Scene Detection and more amazing photography functions.

Even in backlight scenarios, the new SPARK 5 could still be brighter and clearer, avoiding overexposure of the light parts and clearly showcasing dark details.

    Battery and Performance

Bigger Battery, Dark Mode and Gesture Navigation

With a 5000mAH battery, the Spark 5 is expected to last longer than the Spark 4. Coupled with an Android 10 OS, the Spark 5 will use some of the very good battery-saving functions of the OS.

According to TECNO, the Spark 5 has a standby time of 526 hours.

There is also the dark theme that has been included in this new version of HiOS. This means you can enjoy all the darkness that apps can bring while having less strain on your eyes. This should also make your battery last longer.

However, don’t expect the TECNO Spark 5 to last a full day if you are going to be playing heavy games on it.

It’s also disappointing to see the 2018 Mediatek Helio A22 MT6761 on the device.

    Automatic WhatsApp Status Saver

If you are one of the people who love to repost WhatsApp Status of your friends and you don’t want to rely on 3rd Party apps to do so, then the Spark 5 might have something you might just love.

With settings on the phone, you can save your favourite status as long as you want You no longer have to be limited by 24 hours. You can choose between 15 days, 1 month, 3 months or even forever to have WhatsApp statuses saved.

    Infinix Hot 9 Features

One of the first things you will notice about the Infinix Hot 9 is that there is no 16 GB model. That’s not surprising, considering that a lot of consumers have been complaining about the ROM and RAM options that most Infinix phones start from.

When it comes to Camera, there is a quad setup, much like the trend for mid-range phones in 2020. The 4 rear cameras are a 13 MP (main), 2 MP (macro), 2 MP (depth) and a low light sensor. It is expected that with a buff in software, the combination of cameras at the back should deliver fairly good quality.

The front of the Hot 9 houses a single camera that is no different from the Hot 8. It is a standard 8MP camera with flash.

There are 4 camera options for the Infinix Hot 9. These are:

    • Matte Black
    • Cyan
    • Violet
    • Light Blue

Debunked: 5G does not cause or spread Coronavirus

Did you also hear the numerous conspiracy theories linking 5G and COVID-19? Well, I personally had some very “respectable individuals” share conspiracy theory videos on how the 5G wireless service was causing the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus.

In other parts of the world, it has moved from just theories to vandalism of telecom property and the abuse of their staff.

When it comes to 5G, conspiracy theorists and their followers claim the following:

    1. 5G might suppress the immune system
    2. Viruses can communicate through radio waves (5G)

The truth, however, is that none of these claims can be backed by any sort of evidence.

In fact, many experts have come out to specifically state that the two claims above are completely untrue.

The World Health Organisation has said that no research has linked exposure to wireless technology with negative health effects.

Some conspiracy theory videos and articles seem to match 3G, 4G and 5G to the SARS, swine flu and new coronavirus outbreaks. Although 3G, 4G and 5G were unrolled at similar dates to the SARS, swine flu and new coronavirus outbreaks, their start dates do not match.

Many countries without 5G infrastructure have reported coronavirus cases (even here in Africa). Another research by the Reuters Fact Check Team shows that there is no scientific evidence to connect mobile communication networks with the SARS, swine flu and coronavirus outbreaks.

England’s National Medical Director Stephen Powis has been widely reported in the media as saying, “The 5G story is complete and utter rubbish, it’s nonsense, it’s the worst kind of fake news.”

And that’s exactly what it is – Fake News.

Fake news that has been fueled and is gaining grounds because of the many uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Keep in mind:

    1. 5G does not suppress the immune system
    2. Viruses (live COVID-19) cannot communicate through radio waves (5G)

Remember that, COVID-19 is a respiratory virus which spreads primarily through droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose.  Read how to protect yourself against the pandemic, as you practice social distancing.

Ghana’s Ministry of Communications in partnership with iQuent Technologies Ascend Digital Solution has launched the GH COVID-19 Tracker App.

Although the app is not available on the Stores, the ministry has stated that it will be available in the Google Play Store and the App Store later this week.

According to the Vice President, the app will help to track telephone numbers that are apparently or recently have been in certain countries around the world. The Ghana immigration service will use this information to determining who to provide an extra layer of screening.

The COVID-19 Tracker app is also said to be useful in quarantine reliability to assess if certain individuals who are required to self-quarantine are actually doing that as a measure to flatten the curve of COVID-19 cases in Ghana.

The Tracker App this is yet another weapon yet deployed to fight the novel Coronavirus.

Ghana is one of the few countries in the world to deploy such an app and it will give the Government advance information and allow the responsible institutions to respond quickly to COVID-19 related issues.

Dr Bawumia said: “If you look at the current spread of the pandemic, it suggests that the virus has a mind of all. It will, therefore, require innovative ideas such as the application of technology to deal with this fundamental. If Ghana hopes to flatten the curve or to stop the surgeon numbers of people being infected.”

How To Apply for Scholarship in Ghana and Abroad using the new online Application Process

As part of measures to ensure transparency in the management of scholarships in the country, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, earlier this year, launched a new digital platform for the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat to receive scholarship applications online.

The purpose of the online application process, which took effect from 1st April, is the following:

    • to ensure full transparency in the application process
    • to ensure easy auditing and
    • to give applicants the opportunity to track their applications online.

Speaking at the launch of the online platform (scholarshipgh.com) at the Jubilee House, Vice President Bawumia said the new system would help capture accurate data of scholarship beneficiaries and track their academic progress.

He said the platform would ensure easy linkages between the scholarship secretariat and the universities as well as the various embassies for easy validation.

The embassies can now vary from the online platform before giving visa to scholarship beneficiaries to study abroad, he added.

  • iCampusGH: How to use the Online Study Platform for Senior High School Students in Ghana

iCampusGH: How to use the Online Study Platform for Senior High School Students in Ghana

The Ministry of Education has created an online study platform for all, Senior High School students.

All students in Senior High School are to visit the website and study online since schools are closed in response to the Coronavirus outbreak in Ghana.

The iCampusGH.com platform gives students the opportunity to access all core subjects and selected electives, access to video lessons and lesson notes, access to virtual labs and simulations (in some instances) and access to online test after every lesson.

How to access the Online Study Platform for SHS Students in Ghana

    1. Visit icampusgh.com
    2. Enter your BECE index number as your username. Note: For SHS 3 students, add 17 to the index number E.g. 309074025 then 17 to read 30907402517.
    3. Enter ghana@12345 as your default password and click on log in.
    4. You will be required to change the default password before you can continue using the platform.
    5. Click on View all courses to see the subjects available.
    6. Click on any of the courses available and enrol.

Note: If you are experiencing slowness on the platform, it is because there may be more than expected users at the time.

The iCampusGH platform seems to still be a work in progress. We counted 19 courses overall available on the platform.

However, the “virtual lab” resources are particularly useful.

They are interactive flash quizzes that can help students learn “more practically” a few science concepts.

Screenshot of one virtual lab resource on the iCampusGH platform.

One particular feature I loved about the site was the ability to directly ask a teacher for help. If this works like intended, the platform will be much more useful.

However, it does not seem like the response from this help is instant as the communication appears to go through an email system.

How to change your iCampusGH account password

Once you log in, follow the following procedure to change your iCampusGH password:

    1. On the login, interface enter your BECE index number as username and ghana@12345 as the default password.
    2. Click on the login button
    3. You will be greeted with a new interface that prompts you to change your password. Create a new password by entering the default password in the current password field
    4. Then type your new password in the new password field.
    5. Repeat your new password in the new password field (again)
    6. Click on the Save changes button.
    7. Your password is not changed and you can access the platform.

    Benefits of the iCampusGH platform

According to the Ghana Education Service, the new online portal offers the following benefits:

    1. Access to all core subjects and selected electives.
    2. Access to video lessons and lessons notes.
    3. Access to virtual labs and simulations (in some instances)
    4. Access to online test after every lesson.

You need to use the Index Number you used in writing your BECE, even though you are currently in SHS.

This is because the BECE Index Number is the best way currently for identifying Senior High School students in Ghana who have not yet registered for their WASSCE examinations.

If you have any issues using the platform or have a problem with your password, kindly send an email to [email protected] clearly stating your problem and Index Number.
