Wave Money Transfer: Send Mobile Money To Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya

Money transfer from the USA, UK, Canada and other European countries to Africa can sometimes be hectic and time-wasting, especially with the, increase in cybercrime and the introduction of measures to counter money laundering in the system.

A lot of people abroad find it difficult to send money to their relatives and loved ones in Africa. Some also tried in the past and have had bad experiences with some of the companies.

MoneyGram used to be the best but these days because of the bad experience and other limitations from this company, a lot of people are looking for other alternatives for sending money from abroad to Africa.

If you have your relative abroad and want he or she to send you cash without going through all the difficulties then this post is for you.

This pot is going to introduce you to a company that offers the best service when it comes to sending money from abroad to Africa. This company we are going to talk about in this article is wave money transfer.

Wave is a company that centres in sending money to African countries like Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda using a mobile app. Wave was founded in the year 2014 by a team of young engineers who love and live in Africa.

During this period, the platform has grown to become a fully functional money transfer service with much improvement in security. This makes Wave the world’s leading remitters to East and West Africa today.

Wave so far has the best cost-effective service as compared to other companies in this filed. According to wave, they don’t charge any transaction fees and that all their transactions are encrypted so your personal information is always secure.

Unlike other companies which charge transaction fees, wave makes their “profit” on the exchange rate.

    Features of the App

    1. Instant, NO FEE transfers from your debit card to mobile money accounts in Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, & Kenya
    2. Send money easily and quickly as a text message
    3. 24/7 Personal support to all customers
    4. Real-time updates on the status of your transfer so you always know where your money is

How To Get Started With Wave App

Wave uses the mobile app technology which can be downloaded from Google Play for Android and the App Store for iOS.

Once the wave app is installed on your mobile device, you need to register by following some simple process which includes registering your debit card.

After a successful registration on the app, you can instantly send money directly from your mobile in the US, UK or Canadian to Ghana, Kenya, Uganda or Tanzania with completely no transfer fees.

How To Send Money to Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya With Wave App

To send money using this app, first, open the app from your phone menu and then enter your recipient details (Name and Phone)

Now choose how much money you want to transfer and press ‘Send.’

Once everything goes well, your recipient in Africa will receive the money on their mobile instantly!

Now, this recipient can go to any mobile money venture and cash out the money sent. This is mostly possible in Ghana and Kenya. But with some countries like Nigeria, the receiver of the money can also cash it out at the bank and the cashing out process should also be fast and instant.

  • New Ghanaian Passports applied from March 2019 to be valid for 10 years

New Ghanaian Passports applied from March 2019 to be valid for 10 years

Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended the validity of ordinary Ghanaian passports from 5 to 10 years.

The extension takes effect from Sunday, March 31, 2019.

This was contained in a letter signed by the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Mohammed Habibu Tijani and addressed to all Ghanaian Missions abroad.

    The statement read:

“Extension of the validity of passport booklets from five to ten years
Missions are hereby informed that the government has decided to extend the validity of ordinary passport booklets issued to qualified Ghanaian applicants from five to ten years (5-10 years) with effect from 31st March 2019.

The processing fees remain the same until further notice.”

It is already easy to apply for a Ghanaian Passport by oneself.

By increasing the validity period for the Passport, it is hoped that pressure on the existing facilities at the Passport Application Centres will decrease in the long run.

Features of the Infinix Hot 7

    Design and Display

The Infinix Hot 7 maintains the trendy slim bezel design like the Hot 6 series. The design is compact so it feels firm in the hands when held. This phone is, however, one for people on a budget hence the plastic design of the outer.

The screen has the 18:9 aspect ratio with the very visible notch at the top. The screen to body ratio is thin, hence providing a large area of the screen to feed the eyes.

At the back of the phone, the camera setup with the dual flashlight is quite visible. The rear camera and flashlight are arranged at the top left section of the phone with the fingerprint sensor placed a few millimetres away to the right of the dual flashlight.

    Battery

One of the areas, the Infinix Hot 7 impresses is the battery capacity which is not really an over the top capacity but is enough for extensive usage on the device. The 4,000 mAh battery fitted in the Hot 7is efficient and comes with quick charging to get the phone powered up in no time.

    Camera

Rather than go the way of the Hot 6 to bring dual cameras to the Hot 7, Infinix put up a single 13 MP Camera with an autofocus Dual flash light at the rear of the phone.

The front of the Hot 7 sports an 8 megapixel FF Camera with flash light. Enough to brighten up most of the selfies you will be taking on a budget phone.

    Performance

Welcome back, MediaTek Processors. The Hot 7 comes with the MediaTek MT6580P chipset. The CPU is a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 type with a maximum CPU Frequency of 1.3GHz.

The phone should be able to handle most multitasking duties as well as deliver properly on playing games.

Why you should buy the Infinix Hot 7

One of the good things about Infinix Mobility’s Hot 7 is the price at which it comes. The 2GB/32GB Variant comes at less than GHS 530. It currently sells at a lower price than the Hot 6 series.

Shop diligently and you could even get it lower at some retail shops here in Ghana.

If you are looking for a decent phone. want to stay in style and are uninterested in 4G, the Hot 7 is a good buy for you.

  • This valentine, you and your boo can have a lover’s app

This valentine, you and your boo can have a lover’s app

This post was originally published in 2017.

February has long been considered as the month of Love, with the climax of all the so-called love activities rather conveniently in the middle of the month: February 14th – Valentine’s Day. It’s 2017, and there is no facet of our lives that technology doesn’t affect. In February, I put up a series of posts dubbed “#ValentineSpecial” with a focus on Technology and our love lives.

In more recent years, you can not speak about technology without speaking about smartphones, and with mobile applications. There is a mobile application for virtually everything nowadays. Mobile apps to pay for goods, apps for taxis, apps for designing, apps for movies and luckily for us, apps for Lovers and Couples.

Why would couples need an app when there is Whatsapp or Messenger? Well, one thing about apps for couples is that they are designed to be for just two people, yourself and your lover. They also have unique features that differentiate them from mainstream chat and messaging apps or photo sharing applications. With a busy work or school schedule, it’s mostly tiresome to make time for your significant other. Today, I look at the one very exciting app you should use with your significant other.

With over 3,500,000 downloads and a rating of 4.0 on the PlayStore, this app is actually my favourite! It is beautifully designed and encourages you and your mate to keep lasting memories. You can share text, pictures, videos, audio, doodles, beautiful stickers and “private or disappearing photos”. It’s the first app you should try if you are sceptical of relationship apps.

Features (as listed on the app’s website):

    • Private timeline to build a shared history & remember all your special moments
    • Real-time messaging and share videos, voice messages, and photo filters to express yourself
    • Express your moods & emotions with a variety of fun sticker packs.
    • Send Secrets: photos that disappear after a fixed time!
    • ThumbKiss™ when you want to be close: whether next door across continents touch the same spot on your phones to make them both vibrate simultaneously
    • Sketch together in real-time: draw pictures simultaneously or play games from a thousand miles away!
    • Share to-do lists: real-time syncing from new date ideas to remembering milk at the store
    • Broadcast your location to each other in real-time using Live Beacon, to make it easier to meet up
The Couple app on the Play Store

Get the Couple App Now: iOS (free) and Android (free)

Do you think apps, phones and the internet are killing relationships? Would you try this app with your partner?
I’ll like to hear what you think. Leave a comment below.

  • What We Learned From Ghana’s Google Search History for January 2019

What We Learned From Ghana’s Google Search History for January 2019

January was an interesting month for Ghanaians with a lot of ups and downs. As the first month of the year, Ghanaians had a lot to talk about.

But what information were Ghanaians interested in for the month? To know what really a lot of us here in Ghana have been searching, we resorted to Google Trends.

    Here is what we discovered:

    Jobs in Ghana

It is no news that a lot of the youth are still searching for jobs eagerly. And nowadays, there is nowhere to get the latest job postings than online portals.

From the search data we gathered, a lot of Ghanaians are actively searching for jobs via Google Search and there seem to be no end in sight as the query was a regular in 2018.

Hopefully, more people find the jobs they want.

    Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment

This one is closely linked to the first term. However, what makes it unique is it’s a quick rise to the top of things searched on Google by Ghanaians as a stand-alone term,

It appears a lot of Ghanaians love the army and are looking for ways to join.

    Public Holidays in Ghana

This one is interesting. It appears that after the December holidays, Ghanaians have fallen in love so much with the enjoyment that they want to know what days there would be more holidays,

Another reason this term could have come up will be the new January 7th Holiday that was observed this year.

Well, the bad news, for those who wanted more days off, in that there is no holiday in February.

Found any surprises on the list?

Attend Silicon Valley’s Product School 1st Ever Meetup in Accra

Let’s talk about Product Market Fit in Ghana.

Philip built an e-commerce loyalty store. It was an idea he was very passionate about and spent time fantasizing about the idea. He jumped into action afterwards by getting a skilled software developer to create the product. He modelled existing e-commerce stores and was enthusiastic about the potential of disrupting the market. Development of the site took about 3 months which was very intense. The launch date was filled with a lot more excitement and based on projections, he was going to make millions in less than 18 months.

What happened afterwards, he didn’t expect or prepare for. Acquiring customers took a very long time and when they visited eventually, they barely returned. The few customers who returned didn’t purchase enough on a regular basis to make the business profitable. All his other assumptions fell to the ground like a pack of cards. The next few months were filled with trial and error and 18 months later, the business had to be shut down. Incidentally, the 18-month mark was when he estimated to make the first million. His failure was inevitable as he had ignored certain things.

His is a classic case of designing the market and not designing for the market. There’s a subtle difference between both, the former assumes that people would love the product, the latter understands customers and the market before developing a product.

Unfortunately, Philip’s story is similar to millions of businesses that die every year abruptly.

This is the reason why there’s an importance to consider Product Market Fit in the early days of your product development.

Developing a product or an idea is only the first part of the puzzle. Finding Product-Market Fit (PMF) is the second and most important part of the puzzle. Products and ultimately companies often fail because of the inability to reach Product-Market Fit.

This is why we’ve brought together 2 astute speakers who have achieved Product Market Fit.

    Who’s Speaking?

Eyram Tawia’s love for comics and video games helped to spur his interest to learn to program at an early age, and quickly found a home as an experienced game designer and developer, and co-founded Leti Arts on his conviction that Africa will make a salient contribution to the world of game development thus helped to pioneer the industry.

Eyram won the British Council Young Creative Entrepreneurs Media Awards 2012 due to his diligence and passion for transforming the creative media industry. In 2013 he was selected by Google Africa as one of 6 Innovation Heroes in Ghana pioneering the use of the Internet and Innovation, and also took home two awards at the 2013 Ghana top app awards – Best Entertainment App and App Developer of the year awards. He was an MTV Africa Music Awards 2014 nominee, Vodafone Global Appstar 2014 winner and winner of the Most Heart for Africa prize at the Africa Entrepreneurs Awards 2015

Eyram is a regular public speaker, appearing at the Game Developers Conference 2013 in San Francisco where he spoke on The Emerging Landscape of African Game Development, at the US-Africa Business Summit 2014 in Washington DC, and at TedxAccra in 2015.

Chidi Nwaogu is a Nigerian serial Internet entrepreneur who has been featured on several national papers for his achievements. Nwaogu was the keynote speaker at the 2012 IT Leaders West Africa Summit, where he gave a thirty-minute lecture on the role of social media and mobile in developing nations.

He started his entrepreneurial journey at 16 with the creation of 9ja Boi Interactive, a video game. He went on to co-found and sell 2 companies. Today, he is the Co-founder and CEO of Publiseer, a digital publishing platform, described by Konbini, as “one of the largest digital publishers in Africa”.

Publiseer was a finalist at a Harvard Business School New Venture Competition and Disrupt Africa Live Pitch Competition. It has been accepted into several accelerators and incubators, such as Microsoft’s Accelerate Labs and University of Cape Town’s Venture Incubation Programme.

Attending this event would put you a step closer to achieving PMF for your product. In addition, you will have the chance to network with Product Managers, Design Thinking Experts, Analysts, CEOs and Product Enthusiasts.
