iPhone X (iPhone 10) in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria: Buy, Swap, Price, Specs

The iPhone X, also known as iPhone 10 was launched on 12th September 2017 at a plush event which was watched worldwide. As expected, a lot of Apple gadgets were announced and unveiled. This post looks at the iPhone X (iPhone 10) in reader detail.

Processor

The iPhone X is powered by Apple’s own A11 processor. It has six cores. Two of these cores are high-performance cores. They are up to 25 per cent faster than the high-performance core in the A10, which powers the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, says Apple. Then there are four other power-efficient cores that are 70 per cent faster compared to similar Cores in the A10.

RAM

Apple has not specified how much RAM there is inside the Apple X. But leaks noted that it is going to be 3GB. And because the iPhone X has a higher-density display, that is indeed how much RAM it will come with.

Internal storage

There are two variants of the iPhone X. One of them comes with 64GB internal storage. The other one has 256GB storage.

Variants

Both are different only in their internal storage. Everything else is same.

Screen

5.8-inch resolution of 2436X1125 pixels. The Apple X uses OLED panels.

Rear camera

12-megapixel shooter with dual-tone flash. Also, F1.8 wide lens. This is one camera. There is a second camera too in the iPhone X. This one uses a telephoto lens with F2.4 aperture.

Front camera

7-megapixel with an F2.2 lens.

Battery

Not specified yet but lasts 2 hours longer than the battery life of the iPhone 7, which is not surprising given the fact that the iPhone 7 is a much smaller phone.

The sharpest display ever on an iPhone

The iPhone X features a colour OLED display with more than 2 million pixels. That means sharper text for reading, more impressive video playback and more. Better yet, it has a screen that runs from edge to edge so you get a bigger viewing area without having to carry a larger phone.

Facial recognition

You can register your face with the iPhone X so that it automatically unlocks when you look at it. We’ve seen this before in phones such as the Galaxy S8, but Apple says its face unlock uses 3-D imagery that’s even more secure. It says the new tech can’t be fooled by even a professionally made mask of your face and is more secure than fingerprint locks.

Animoji!

This ties into facial recognition but is fun enough that it deserves its own spot on the list. Apple developed new “Animoji” that allows you to create short clips of your own emotions and send them off as emojis to friends and family. Maybe you’ll make a silly face with the pig emoji, for example, Apple’s facial recognition tech will help the emoji resemble the exact expressions you’re making.

Wireless charging

The iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are the first iPhones to support wireless charging. Qi, the standard Apple chose, is typically very slow. But Apple has the power to bring wireless charging pads everywhere, from retailers to restaurants, and I suspect it’s about to take off now that it’s finally on an iPhone. Apple says it’s still working on perfecting some wireless tech, too, so perhaps it’ll be much faster when it launches.

Brand new cameras

The iPhone X has a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a second telephoto lens for zooming. Apple says it offers huge improvements over the cameras we saw in the iPhone 7 Plus, which was the first to offer a telephoto lens. Also expect to see less shaky videos, improved pictures in low light, and more. Also, a new front-facing “TrueDepth” camera is capable of taking those fancy portrait shots that debuted on the iPhone 7 Plus, which create a blurred background bokeh effect that looks much more professional.

Why I think Dating Apps in Ghana all seem to be Sex Trading Centres
Everyone who knows me well can attest to the fact that I am an advocate of “the online world”. I believe most things that are done offline can equally be done online, and achieve greater results.

However, just like the offline world, a lot of fraud and deception exist in the online world too. One of these and the most annoying for me personally is all these dating apps which turn out to be just avenues for a commercial sex worker to ply his or her trade.

A few months back, I spoke about some of the best dating Apps in Ghana. Before that period, I intentionally installed a few of the so called “dating apps” to ascertain how they work and to be sure if they fulfilled their real purpose. Sadly, they did not.

At that point, the sharp contrast between what dating in the offline world and dating in the online world meant was clearer to me. It appears as if when you talk about “dating” online, it simply meant getting a partner for the night; this is true for both male and females.

I’m inquisitive, very inquisitive, even sometimes when I know I shouldn’t be.

The Dating App TECHxperience

Last two weeks, I installed two of these dating apps with the intention of finding out whether there are any real people searching for “dates”. I registered the first account with the name “Yaw Mfidie”, using my real picture and date of birth. My intention was to get a female partner to date in 96 hours. I was attracted to some of these “sweet profiles” and I mostly began the conversations.

For a few of them, the conversation lasted more than 5 messages before I was hit with the usual: “Let’s chat on Whatsapp for a good time, GHS XX for short time, GHS XX for a long time. No sleep overs. Call 02ZZZZZZZZZ”. All the messages were not structured in the exact same way, but they were all alike. I, however, met one lady who was interested in learning the English language, out of about 18 ladies I had a chat with.

Dating apps in Ghana are not focused on love. It seems to be a sex market.

I thought to myself: “Maybe the guys on here are searching for a real dating opportunity and these ladies are not helping”.

I decided to create a new account with a different identity. This time, I created “Yaa Mfidie” with beautiful lady stock photo from Pixabay. I filled in all the necessary details and waited for someone to contact me. I was surprised when guys were sending messages like:
- Hello Pretty, can I have a taste of your sweet things?
- How much for one night?
- Call me on 02ZZZZZZZZZ, I have a big —- to satisfy your needs
- And the likes of messages, suggesting that these guys only wanted sex too.
For the few who asked whether I was dating, I replied with “No”, then they jumped on the bandwagon to suggest we just had sex. Seriously, is this dating?

Well, Well.

I know chatting with over 40 different people, both male and female can not be a concrete evidence of what happens in these dating apps, but I think I have had enough. From where I stand right now, there is really no proper “dating” going on in these online dating apps. If you know of any that works here in Ghana, just tell me.

And oh, those fraudsters on the app using pictures of people who look like Selena Gomez yet bear the names of traditional Ghanaians, what are they thinking?

Mula: Digital Service for ECG Prepaid Power Launches in Ghana
