  • How To Stake Lotto With Your Phone Using NLA Shortcode & MoMo

How To Stake Lotto With Your Phone Using NLA Shortcode & MoMo

The history of the lotto in Ghana started way back in 1960 when the Lotto and Betting Act 94 was passed into law.

The main aim of passing this law was to generate revenue for the development of the country.

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) works 6 days of the week and each day has its name for this game in Ghana:

    • Lotto on Mondays are called Monday Special
    • Lotto on Tuesdays are called Lucky Tuesday
    • Lotto on Wednesdays are called Mid-Week
    • Thursdays are called Fortune Thursday
    • Lotto on Fridays are called Friday Bonanza
    • Lotto on Saturdays are called National lotto

The numbers you can stake on start from 1 to 90 and at the end of the day 5 numbers will be picked, if the numbers are announced and your number happens to be among the numbers mentioned, then the next day you will go and collect your money.

At first, before you can stake the lotto, you will have to walk to the nearest lotto agent to stake.

Because of this, some people couldn’t go to the lotto agent and stake based on their religion or role they play or maybe they might be having a busy day.

Now NLA has joined the modern world of digitization, now you can stake banker to banker using your mobile money account.

Maybe you might want to stake lotto but sometimes find it difficult to visit the nearest lotto agent to stake, maybe you are shy like me, then this time around you can also stake your favourite numbers at the comfort of your home without visiting any lotto agent.

Before we get started the shortcode to use in staking the national lottery using your phone is *959#. Also, you can stake only 5 numbers.

You are going to pay using your mobile money so I believe you already registered for a mobile money account.

    What is the NLA Shortcode?

*959# — The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has unveiled *959# as the only operational and functional official short code of the NLA. All is *959# players of NLA products/services, the general public and the media that are to use that code to stake Lotto in Ghana.

Also, the only licensed online lotto marketing company responsible for the operation of the *959# shortcode on behalf of the NLA is KGL Technology Limited. This means that any other shortcode is illegal and should not be used to stake lotto with the NLA.

How To Stake Lotto With Your Phone Using Mobile Money

    1. On your phone dial the NLA Shortcode *959#
    2. You will then have to choose 1: the current game, if its Monday you will see Monday special if its Saturday you will see National.
    3. Now select how you want to stake your numbers, they have Direct, 2-Sure, Direct-3, Direct-4, Direct-5, Perm-2 and Perm-3
    4. Enter the numbers you want to stake and separate each number with a space.
    5. Confirm by entering 1
    6. Within seconds you will receive a notification to approve your transaction, some people will not receive a mobile money prompt.

How Do You Receive The Money when you win Lotto in Ghana

I know you are not the only one asking about this question, the first time I staked using my phone I asked the same question.

When you stake and you win, you will be paid directly into your mobile money account, the account that you used to pay for the staking, that’s the same number they will pay you your money when you win.

How To Earn an MBA From The Comfort of Your Home in 13 Months

In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic taught the entire world, the need to invest more in e-learning platforms. For universities and institutions that had e-learning platforms already, the COVID-19 pandemic did not really interrupt their academic delivery, but for the rest, it had some negative effects on them.

It is because of these unforeseen circumstances that I am going to show you how you can sit in the comfort of your home and earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the comfort of your home anywhere you are in the world in less than 2 years.

The dream of most university students all over the world is to get a cheap and flexible master’s degree upon completion of their undergraduate studies, but due to financial constraints and some other personal reasons, these undergraduates are not able to find a suitable master’s degree.

There is nothing more stressful than working during weekdays and going to school on weekends for a master’s degree program. Even during the week, there are some assignments and projects you need to submit to your supervisor.

Even though there is an option for students to enroll in full-time master’s degrees, this option means the student will not be able to work while schooling. Except for the government and some private institutions that provide paid school leave for their workers, some companies will have to terminate the contract with the worker if he or she intends to enroll in full-time studies.

Because of the termination of the contracts, the students will have to pay for their fees and fend for themselves without any job and this is very frustrating and stressful. To avoid the option of terminating your contract or quitting your job for a master’s degree, Quantic School of Business and Technology provides students with a self-paced Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

  • Top MTN Ghana Short Codes That You Need

Top MTN Ghana Short Codes That You Need

When it comes to the best telecommunications in Ghana, MTN is the leading telecommunication network in Ghana with over 17 million subscribers.

MTN has so many offers that have made Ghanaians fall in love with their service.

You might have heard of a certain offer that this telecommunication will be offering and will want to subscribe to this offer but you might not know how exactly it works and also the shortcode for subscribing

In this article, I am going to take you through the top MTN Ghana shortcodes and the offer or purpose behind it

    MTN Nkomode – *550#

The MTN Nkomode also known as ‘free after one’ is an offer that was launched in 2, November 2018 and it has been active till now.

This service allows you to make calls and only pay for the first minute of the call and then the rest of the call becomes free, you will be charged 30.4 pesewas and also get free 50MB, in addition, to be used before the next day.

How to susbcribe to MTN Nkomode

    1. On your phone dial *550#
    2. Choose Option 6 (Free after 1)
    3. Select 1 to activate
    4. Select 1 again to confirm

What users have to take note about this offer is that, when you activate it, you only pay for the first 1 minute and the rest is free so if you subscribe and make a phone call that does not last up to a minute, you will not be charged 30.4p, also when you make a phone call and it last for 2 minutes, you will be charged 30.4p.

Although MTN has made it known to us that it is free after 1 and you only pay for the first minute, that does not mean you can make a phone call for 5 hours and still pay for 30.4p but rather each call will last for 1 hour and then the call will end and you will be charged only 30.4 pesewas.

    MTN Jaara – *5055#

MTN Jaara is a free call service, this service allows you to make calls for 24 hours and pay 50p, you can choose to auto-renew the next day after it expires.

This service is not available in all regions in the country but to some selected regions, these regions are :

    • Northern Region
    • Upper East Region
    • Brong Ahafo Region
    • Volta Region
    • Upper West Region

To activate for this offer dial *5055# and then confirm, after that you will be charged 50 pesewas and then you can start making free calls the rest of the day.

MTN Pay For Me – 154 Before The MTN Number

There might a time that you might want to talk to somebody but you don’t have credit, or you were in the middle of a conversation and all of a sudden your credit got finished and you still want to continue the conversation.

MTN has also thought of that, and because of this they introduced MTN Nkomode, with this service, users can make a call without even having a credit but request the receiver to accept the call and pay for the call.

To make a ‘pay for me’ call first dial 154 before the receivers number so if you want to call 0244300000, you will dial 1540244300000 and the call will go through, when the person you called receives the call he or she will be prompted to either press 1 to accept the call and pay for it or press 2 to decline.

  • Hacking and Cybercrime in Ghana: what does the law say?

Hacking and Cybercrime in Ghana: what does the law say?

Cybercrime is said to be using computers to do illegal activities or unlawfully entering computer systems to cause harm and profit off it.

Cybercrime is an enemy of the law worldwide as in America. The FBI keeps updating its list of most-wanted cyber criminals. Ghana is known to have one of the highest cybercrime activities and ranked 2nd some years back.

The government was forced to implement policies to curb this menace, including a cybersecurity maturity study executed by the Ministry of Communications.

Leading Causes of Cybercrime in Ghana

Cybercriminals look for easy ways to make big money. They target rich people or wealthy organizations like banks, casinos, financial firms, and business owners where a considerable amount of cash flows daily and hack sensitive and vulnerable information.

Catching such criminals is difficult because they work behind their PCs, and you won’t see them in person.

They work with VPNs so people won’t track their locations, hence increasing the number of cyber-crimes across the country. Computers are vulnerable, so laws are required to protect and safeguard them against cybercriminals.

For this reason, many hackers’ works are made less stressful. Below are some of the reasons for the vulnerability of computers.

    Negligence

Humans can’t help but be negligent sometimes; it’s part of our human conduct. However, this slight negligence on our side allows the hackers to hack into your system.

Storing data in a comparatively small area

Because the computer has a unique feature of storing many data in a very small space, hackers find it very easy to access this data because they’ve all been compressed in a single space.

    The unavailability of evidence

Due to how these hackers do their work, the law finds it hard to gather evidence to arrest them. They use VPNs so their locations can’t be tracked and use other individuals’ identities, thereby covering their tracks very well.

    Types of Cybercrime in Ghana

There are different types of Cybercrime in the world. Below I’ll list and discuss the different types of Cybercrime in Ghana.

    Identity theft

Identity theft occurs when someone uses another person’s personal identifying information, like their name, identifying number, or credit card number, without their permission to commit fraud or other crimes.

A criminal accesses data about a person’s bank account, credit cards and other personal credentials. It has become a major problem with people using the internet for cash transactions and banking services.

    Online illegal selling

Illegal products in the country cannot be traded in the outer environment like other products, so these traders do it on the black market. These products include weapons, drugs and human organs in extreme cases.

    Fraud calls

Fraud calls are the most common ones in Ghana. I’m sure you must have heard situations like this. Individuals call you claiming they’ve mistakenly sent money to your mobile money account, and whilst talking to you, they process the details of your account and steal money from your mobile money account. This type of criminal activity is called “phishing”.

What the authorities are doing about Cybercrime in Ghana

    The government has come together and implemented policies to curb the criminal activities of hackers in the country;

    Policies have been implemented

Section 66D of the IT Act prescribes punishment for ‘cheating by personation by using computer resource’ and provides that any person who by means of any communication device or computer resource cheats by personation, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to 3 (three).

A national security centre was launched to monitor activities of Cybercrime.

The internet has become a critical infrastructure and facilitator of engagements for individual users, businesses, and governments across the globe.

In Ghana, the increasing reliance on the internet and Information Communication Technology has led to increased cybersecurity incidents such as ransomware, cyber theft, banking fraud, cyber espionage and other cyber-attacks targeted at critical information infrastructure.

These cybersecurity incidents have affected critical sectors of the country, including energy, telecommunications, banking and finance, and have caused disruptions in the delivery of essential services. If unchecked, it can undermine the security and economy of the country.

The government has implemented some initiatives through the Ministry of Communications to improve Ghana’s cybersecurity development.

These include the revision of Ghana’s National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy, the establishment of the National Cyber Security Centre, the launch of the Safer Digital Ghana campaign, the launch of Cybercrime and Cybersecurity Incident Reporting Points of Contact.

Others include the establishment of the Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERT) at the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the Security Operations Centre’s at both the Bank of Ghana and the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), as well as capacity building on Cybercrime for the criminal justice sector.

    Conclusion

Many people have lost money from these cybercriminals; some have still not even spoken about it. It’s a big menace to society and industry, and we all need to take cybersecurity seriously.

    AirtelTigo ‘Explor’ internship programme participants

AirtelTigo is a telecommunication network that was founded in 1990 and has been providing exemplary services since. AirtelTigo introduced their mobile money service in 2011 when one-half was still Tigo. Airtel Ghana and Tigo Ghana became a joint telco in 2017 to become the second-largest mobile operator. This service is one of the most convenient in the country.

On “AirtelTigo Money,” you can send and receive money, make purchases, pay bills and fees and buy airtime all on your phone. Registration for AirtelTigo Money is also effortless to buy as a few options have been provided for customers who wish to open mobile money accounts with AirtelTigo.

I’m here to show them the light in my new article, where I’ll discuss how registration on WhatsApp works and the necessary steps on how to go about the registration via WhatsApp.

Steps On How To Register For AirtelTigo Money Via WhatsApp

If you have an AirtelTigo sim that you use but haven’t registered for their mobile money service and you’d like to register for it now, it’s either you go to the office or do it at home.

Maybe because of covid-19 so you wouldn’t like to go out and be in the midst of people, so you’ll love to do it at home, it’s straightforward. You can register it yourself on your phone, USSD, by dialing *110# and following the prompts.

With this too, one might argue that he doesn’t want to make any mistakes and this is money related so he’d like the telecom service to do it for him themselves. Money-related issues are very damaging, especially if you created them yourself, but if it’s someone else’s fault, you’ll at least be less stressed.

That’s why AirtelTigo introduced registration via WhatsApp, where you send them a text and follow the steps to get registered. Below are the steps to get your SIM/Phone Number registered for “AirtelTigo Money” via WhatsApp.

    1. Send a WhatsApp Message to the official AirtelTigo Number – 0577000084
    2. After you text them, you’ll be asked to provide a picture of the ID card you used to register your SIM card.
    3. The AirtelTigo WhatsApp attendant will record your credentials such as your date of birth, location, and age
    4. Your details will be processed with your AirtelTigo number to create a mobile money account for you.
    5. You’ll then receive a prompt on your phone to create a password.
    6. Your AirtelTigo Money account has been successfully registered without any charges.

You can now enjoy AirtelTigo Money services on your phone and make whatever transactions you want at very excellent rates.

    Conclusion

The Covid-19 precautions brought many beautiful ideas to everyone around the world. Many companies have digitized everything and made it simple for their customers to do everything from the comfort of their homes.

This service can only work if you have a smartphone. To find the AirtelTigo WhatsApp number on any official pages and text them to begin the process. It’s a short and stress-free process.

It must be very disturbing when you want to apply for a job or to further your education only to realise you can’t because you lost your BECE or WASSCE Certificate or you don’t have it at all.
