The TECNO Spark 3 is finally available, after a long wait from Tecno fans, especially the youth who the Spark Series is targeted towards.

First Impressions of the TECNO Spark 3

The big display counts as our first impression. The Spark 2 had a 6-Inch, which Tecno had to expand to 6.2-Inch reducing down on the bezels. This gives an advantage to more content viewership and screen display sharing.

The build is beautiful. Tecno pulls it off with poly-carbonate plastic that can be mistaken for glass and was finalized with a granite-like finish. In terms of feel in the hand, the Spark 3 feels quite good in the hand and it’s a light phone.

We applaud Tecno on polishing the HiOS on topped UI for the Android 9.0 Pie mobile OS.

With the AI tech integrated into the Spark 3, it happens to fully optimize the phone’s performance, brights up your videos and photos, best for detection among others.

Features of the Tecno Spark 3

Design and Display

A quick look at the front of the Tecno Spark 3 shows the all popular notch design. The notch houses the front camera, microphone and a few other sensors.

What’s good about the Notch on the Spark 3 is that it can be controlled via the OS settings to hide it for all those who still don’t like the notch.

Another aspect of the display is the super full view display with the 19:9 aspect ratio it comes with. The screen itself is an IPS 6.2 inch, resulting in a 720 x 1520 pixels resolution.

Battery and Camera

When it comes to the battery life of phones, TECNO Mobile does well, especially with the Spark Series, considering their very budget friendly price.

The Spark 3 comes with a 3,500mAh capacity battery and if you are going to run the Android Go edition of most of the popular apps, then you should expect up to a full day of battery life. This however also depends on each user’s habits.

The Spark 3 does not come with a Fast Charge, however, this should not hamper a good charging rate from the phone’s charger.

The Camera configuration on the phones differs by the two available models. The 1GB RAM and 2GB RAM Models of the phone have a 13MP AI Camera and a 13MP Dual Rear Camera respectively.

The front of both models, however, have the same 8MP camera.

Hardware and Software

The two variants of the Tecno Spark 3 can mainly be differentiated in the hardware area.

The 1GB Model uses a MediaTek MT6580 Chipset whiles
The 2GB Model runs on a MediaTek Helio A22 (MT6761) chipset.

TECNO partners Google for Android 10 Q Beta with Spark 3 Pro

The Google I/O developer conference where Google announces the latest updates to their ecosystem took place this week. As usual, Android fans were waiting for the next beta version of Android 10 Q.

The Google Pixel devices are usually the devices to get the beta update first, but as Google looks forward to getting OEMs to get on the latest Android version as fast as possible and reduce fragmentation, it was not surprising to see so many more device manufacturers and phones supporting the latest beta of Android 10 Q.

For the latest Beta, Google announced that 21 phones from 13 manufacturers will get the update once it is released [It has been released and these devices are getting the updates].

The list of manufacturers includes Google, OnePlus, MI, Asus, Huawei, Sony, Nokia, Oppo, LG, Essential, Vivo, Realme and TECNO.

Yes, you read right! For the first time, we have a Tecno device that will get the Android 10 Q beta release. For those who own the Tecno Spark 3 Pro, you can now get the beta release by following this link.

Peek: TECNO’s Camon 11 to have 4 cameras with AI and a notch

Artificial intelligence is steadily making its way onto our smartphones and may be a key feature in the next one year.

Many devices released in the past few months, from the new Google’s Pixel phones to Apple’s recent releases have included AI-focused hardware and software. These phones use AI in all sorts of clever ways, from imaging and photography to power efficiency and security.

Those who have not been in the AI game are expected to soon introduce smartphones with special functions and if rumour flying around turns out to be true, Africa’s number one mobile phone brand TECNO Mobile might be preparing to release its first AI-powered smartphone into the market.
